All you need to know about local Blueberry picking > The Giving Farm: Farm Experiences & Pick Your Own
We've been getting lots of enquiries about our blueberries lately ππ«, so I thought I'd answer some of the most common questions!
πΏ Our farm is certified organic through Australian Certified Organic (ACO #13355). Every year our farm undergoes an independent audit, where everything we do and use on the farm is thoroughly checked. This means all of our produce, including our blueberries are 100% pesticide and insecticide free, so you can enjoy them straight from the bush!
π« When is blueberry season?
Our blueberry season usually starts in October. The bushes normally begin flowering around May, but they're only just starting to flower now, so it's still too early to know exactly when the berries will be ready. We'll keep everyone updated on our website and social media as the season gets closer.
π§Ί How does picking work?
We are a 100% Pick Your Own farm. All blueberry picking sessions are ticketed so we can keep numbers in the orchard low and make sure everyone has plenty of space to enjoy their visit. We also don't sell or ship picked berries, the experience is all about harvesting your own straight from the bush.
π¦οΈ Why don't you release tickets earlier?
Because our blueberries are grown outdoors, not in greenhouses, they're completely at the mercy of the weather. Heavy rain, flooding and strong winds can have a huge impact on the crop. Last year, the July and August rain and floods caused us to lose all of our blueberry blossoms before they could produce fruit.
For that reason, we don't release tickets more than a week in advance, as we need to be sure there will be berries ready for everyone to pick.
π We're feeling really hopeful for a fantastic blueberry season this year, and we can't wait to welcome everyone back to the orchard!
In the meantime we are running our Farm Animal Cuddle, Pat and Feed experiences, you can find all those details and book via our website.
