🌱Cover crops can improve soil health by building organic matter, supporting beneficial soil biology and cycling nutrients. Nitrogen-fixing cover crops, such as clover or alfalfa, will add soluble nitrogen to the soil.
They can help suppress weeds, reducing competition for water and nutrients, while groundcover helps reduce evaporation, improve water infiltration and protect soil from wind and water erosion.
👉Tip: When determining which cover crop is most suitable to your farm, its important to consider what purpose you want that crop to serve. Knowing your individual paddock conditions and/or needs allows for best planning and management.
