Turanga Red Poll Stud : Grass Fed Beef Ethically produced, grass fed, home grown beef from south west Victoria. Order home delivered beef direct from our paddock, packaged to suit your family.

The Turanga stud was established over 30 years ago by Eric Abbott, who was known to be an astute cattle breeder with a sharp eye for the finer points of a cow. Delivered in small lots straight to our well reputed abattoir for the least stress possible.

The pep talk has been delivered to the 14 young lads that head off to work this week! The young bulls are 14 months old and have passed semen testing, received all their vaccines and genomic testing including being myostatin negative. As you can see they are all well behaved and should impress the ladies! ⭐️

What an incredible result we have seen at this years Southern Grassfed Carcase Classic!

It was a fantastic outcome for Brittany as she entered her own steers that she sourced from home and Don Castle of Koallah Park Red Polls as yearlings. The Koallah Park steers were sired by Turanga Not A Fuss and the home bred steer was by Turanga True Value. There were three Red Poll x Herefords in the group that in comparison did not perform as well as the purebreds on the hook. Brittany’s outlook was to put a line of 17 to 21 month old finished grassfed steers together
and reflect on the data in a large interbreed and cross bred competition. It was pleasing to see consistent high quality carcasses.

Thank you to the committee for putting together a great evening and opportunity to gain valuable feedback from an industry relevant event. It was also interesting to hear from Simon Quilty as the guest speaker and see $42,000 raised for the Royal Flying Doctors Service.

To top off the 2026 Royal Sydney Show, it was fantastic to see the Red Poll Stan Hill team come third overall in the prestigious interbreed carcass competition! What an incredible result! Congratulations to Prairiewood High School with a Nyalindee breed steer and Lagoona Red Poll Stud for also being selected in the Stan Hill team.
