This weekend was extremely challenging for me and my businesses with no power at both shops and home. Never has this happened before.
First before I continue I’d like to thank
The Friendly Grocer Kurrajong.
Once again, Alex and his family have stepped in and helped me. I had to empty out all my stock from Kurrajong and put it in their cool room to keep it safe. What a job loading into milk, crates, and trolleys and carting it down and then carting it back up and restocking the shop.
Next was kurmond, I’d like to thank Joe from Piccadilli automotive when we couldn’t get our generator to work. Joe helped guide us through to get it started. Joe was also out of dinner and on his way past stopped in and saw us still there and helped load all my stock into my cool room as I was able to get the generator going. We had to empty out fridges and freezers into the cool room, deli case and chest freezer we ran the generator nonstop which involve getting up in the middle of night checking it and topping it up with petrol. Lack of sleep even saw me have a nap in the car. Then when the power came back on around 2 the next day restocking and putting the shop back together. A shout out to Elysia and Georgie for coming in and help putting the shop back together as well.
I’m so grateful with minimal stock loss. However, loss of trade is massive for small businesses,not just for me. Other shops this would be a big thing. I know I stocked up on stock for people to buy and cater at home for Father’s Day. This is one of our busiest days in the year. A lot of the shops and restaurants will still have to pay for the stock that they have bought and work out ways to use it so if you can, please support all your local businesses as much as you can in the next few weeks. Now I have had a good night sleep and I just need to fix my sore back from lifting and sell some stock and have a belated Father’s Day for my husband and dad and father in law.
