Here's one of our latest, Fermented Beetroot Wedges. Proudly sporting our new funky label design that we've set in and will be rolling out across future products. If you didn't see our previous post, these are naturally preserved without any sugar or vinegar and make a great addition to salads, sandwiches and wraps.

Packed with certified organic beets from Pimlico Organic Produce and fermented with the help of Aussie sea salt, filtered rainwater and time.

So simple, but oh so good!

Available at shop.shedhouse.farm and this Saturday.

The deep burgundy of these fermented beets!

Fresh beetroot wedges that have ever so slowly fermented away in brine of filtered rain water and a dash of Aussie sea salt, drawing out their earthy sweetness while infusing the brine with their essence. The only other ingredient is time.

Not only are the wedges great in salads or on a loaded sandwich or wrap, but the juice itself is basically a Beetroot Kvass - an Eastern European health tonic.

These vary from the canned beetroot commonly known, where they do not have any sugar or vinegar (acetic acid) added. Why is this important?

Well, when you use fresh and organic ingredients that contain their own sugars, you don't need to add it. The sugar is usually to balance the acidity of the vinegar used to pickle things. Most know the other downsides of too much sugar. So, what's wrong with vinegar?

Vinegar is great and really good for you when it's made naturally, as Apple Cider Vinegar is well known. However it has come into our knowledge while sharing our products with people that some have an intolerance to some of what's in vinegar.

While this was not the initial intention of creating such a product, it is really great to know that by doing things in natural and non-additive ways, we are able to provide taste buds with options that won't have a negative impact on their enjoyment. It also means that it's still alive in the jar!

We'll have this and more at the Kyogle Bazaar this Saturday and will share more about our latest products, which will be available online soon.

See you at the Kyogle Bazaar this Saturday. Look out for the sign that is as alive as our products.

Between taming the wild gardens after such a wet and heavy growing Summer and Autumn, once we could get a break from the rain and taking a bit of time to appreciate the season's change. The socials got left behind. πŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎ

These lovely nasturtiums are in full flower and representing the Shedhouse Farm brand colours and make such a nice addition to a Winter salad.

As a result of a good little harvest of pumpkins and squash over Summer and wanting to cook outside to avoid heating up the house, while making something simple and tasty - we have been loving BBQ squash - smoked, grilled and a combination - reverse seared.

It goes great topped with our Beetroot Reaper Hot Ketchup.

Check out the first recipe on our website, with hopefully more to come

If I said this is a fermented Pak Choi in a jar, you might say "Sounds like Kimchi". But it's not, it says so on the label!

So, what is it then?

Well, it's Pak Choi cultured with fire roasted honey carrots, jalapeΓ±o and ginger. It's dank and funky. Masquerading as a Kimchi like ferment, this is a version away from the roots of what Kimchi is. Same same, but different.

Using local organic and naturally grown ingredients from Roseberry Growers , Pimlico Organic Produce and Collins Creek Bush Honey.

Come see us at the next Kyogle Bazaar or check out our online shop to get yourself a jar and checkout our other latest products - shop.shedhouse.farm

What's the Reaper in our Beetroot Reaper Hot Ketchup? Carolina Reaper chilli - which not long ago was the hottest chilli in the world, now second to Pepper X.

The Reaper is a powerful chilli with a tropical fruity flavour.

This little tree is very small, but she's packing some heat. Just a portion of one of these pods is enough to light your entire body on fire.

They are a great addition to get the piquancy up without needing much and when balanced right give the fruity flavour with a nice long burn that makes the deep earthy flavours last longer on your palate.
