🥚🐔 CENTRAL COAST FARMERS MARKET… WE’RE BACK! 🍝🇪🇸

Good news everyone!

After missing the last market, DOS JUANS FINE FOOD will be back at The Central Coast Farmers Market on Sunday 21st June! 🎉

First of all, thank you to everyone who sent messages asking where we were. It turns out some of you need your weekly pasta, eggs and chorizo fix more than we realised! 😂

As for why we missed the last market… well… you know who to blame, don’t you?

❄️ THE COOLROOM ❄️

Apparently it decided to take an unscheduled holiday and left us playing electrician, mechanic, detective and part-time therapist all at once. We tried negotiating with it, but it wasn’t interested. 😅

The good news is we’re back, the coolroom is behaving itself (for now), the chickens are laying, the pasta is being made, the chorizos are hanging, and Juan has only shouted at inanimate objects a few times this week. 🤣

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by our stall today at Castle Hill Farmers & Fine Food Market! ❤️

We met so many new faces, had plenty of laughs, answered lots of questions, and somehow managed to talk about eggs, pasta, chorizo, alpacas, sheep, and chickens all in the same conversation. 😆

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who trusted DOS JUANS FINE FOOD and took home our fresh pasta, sauces, smallgoods, pastured eggs, and other farm goodies. 🥚🍝🇪🇸🇮🇹

🥚🐔 The Eggs Are Back on Track at Castle Hill Farmers & Fine Food Market

We know some of you started looking at us like we’d secretly joined an egg retirement club… 🥚😅

Truth is, our ladies moved in, looked around, and basically said “nah… we need a few weeks to emotionally process this property” 🐔🌿
Very sensitive girls. Very dramatic. Very chicken.

But good news… the counselling worked 😂

They’re officially back in production mode, sitting around 70% and climbing every day 💪🐓
Which means our Hunter Valley pastured eggs from DOS JUANS FINE FOOD are rolling out again like nothing ever happened.

Big happy hens, green grass, and eggs with zero excuses and full flavour 😄🍳

Thanks for hanging in there while the hens sorted out their life choices. We’re back to full baskets soon 🧺✨

🐔💛 WHEN WE MISS A FARMERS MARKET 💛🐔

First of all, we are genuinely very sorry to all our customers who don’t use Facebook or who we couldn’t reach by email or phone. We always hate the idea of anyone turning up and wondering where we are.

When a market gets cancelled, we do try to let everyone know as quickly as possible, but sometimes things just don’t line up perfectly and some messages don’t get through. We really appreciate your understanding 🙏

So what do we do on those rare “no market” mornings?

Well… we stay in bed a little longer, enjoy a slow breakfast in bed, and yes… we absolutely love it 😄☕🥐

Then it’s straight into farm life anyway…

🐔 Back to chickens… training them where to lay eggs (because apparently some still think they’re hiding Easter eggs year-round 🤦‍♂️🥚)

🦙 Then chasing and “training” alpacas… which mostly means using a lot of muscle while they pretend they are in charge 😅

After all that hard work, we definitely deserve a break… coffee and homemade cakes of course ☕🍰 (important fuel, very scientific)

And as you may know by now… we are Spanish… so yes, the famous siesta is always calling us.

Then back again to the chickens… collecting eggs and searching for hidden ones like kids on an Easter egg hunt. They are very good at hiding them, honestly too good 🥚🔍

Back to the house and time for food… today it was homemade chicken ravioli with creamy mushroom sauce and a good sprinkle of Spanish Manchego cheese 🇪🇸✨

And now the big decision of the day…

Go to bed… or take Chiquita for a walk 🐶

(Yes, she wasn’t mentioned earlier but she does at least 4 walks a day… she runs the schedule, not us 😂)

Did we mention that our sheep had three beautiful lambs this week, and we also welcomed a new alpaca cria 🐑🦙💛

The farm has been extra busy, extra noisy, and honestly a little bit chaotic… but in the best possible way 😄

Three little lambs bouncing around like they already own the place, and one fluffy alpaca cria just trying to figure out what’s going on with life 🥰

A huge THANK YOU to all our amazing customers at The Central Coast Farmers Market who placed orders with us for today.

After discovering that our coolroom decided to take an unexpected holiday 😅, we contacted more than 100 customers to let them know we couldn’t attend today’s market.

To our absolute surprise, over 95% of you said, “No worries, we’ll pick up our orders at Hornsby Market this Thursday!” 🎉

The support, understanding, and loyalty you’ve shown us means the world. Running a small family business isn’t always smooth sailing, but having customers like you makes every challenge worthwhile.

🐔🚨 BREAKING NEWS FROM THE FARM 🚨🐔

Tomorrow’s market appearance has been cancelled due to a workplace dispute…

Our coolroom trailer has officially gone on strike. ❄️✊

After spending hours loading all our eggs, chicken, and goodies into the trailer, it suddenly decided that “cooling” was no longer part of its job description.

This led to an exciting afternoon event called:
🏃‍♂️ “Move Everything Back Before It Becomes a Science Experiment”

The good news: all our products are safe and happily chilling in the walk-in coolroom.

The bad news: we won’t be at the The Central Coast Farmers Market tomorrow.

The chickens have been informed and are deeply disappointed. Some are demanding an investigation. Others are blaming management. 🐔🥚

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding. We’ll be back as soon as we’ve negotiated a peace agreement with the coolroom trailer.

We are looking for a junior helper for a few weeks to assist with an important mission…

🎓 Training our new chickens how to lay their eggs inside the chicken caravan instead of wherever they feel like it!

Hours:
⏰ Approximately 7:00am to 10:00am (sometimes until 11:00am)

Requirements:
✅ Must not be afraid of chickens
✅ Must enjoy working outdoors
✅ Must be reliable and punctual
✅ Previous chicken negotiation experience is not required
✅ Ability to explain caravan etiquette to stubborn hens is highly regarded

Duties may include:
🥚 Collecting eggs
🐔 Encouraging good laying habits
🚜 Assisting around the farm
😂 Trying to convince chickens that the caravan is a better option than the bushes

This is a great opportunity for a young person looking for farm experience, school holiday work, or anyone wanting to spend their mornings with hundreds of feathered supervisors.
