This October, I have committed to the Red Socks Challenge, to stand with Australians & New Zealanders living with kidney disease. This includes members of my family who have been impacted by polycystic kidney disease for at least the last 40 years, and will continue to be into the future.
I will be taking on 60km in October to honour the hours spent on dialysis — raising awareness and helping fund better care. Please donate to support a better future for people with kidney disease.

Meet my Sunflower Field socks!
I recently tested this pattern for Nikolett Corley Designs and it's now been released on Ravelry ( https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sunflower-field-socks).

It's a lovely pattern for learning stranded colour work, as it includes lots of tips and techniques to ensure a successful knit - and they're cute as heck!!

When we were in Lisbon visiting family recently we visited Retrosaria Rosa Pomar - a lovely yarn store that offers yarns spun from rare native Portuguese sheep breeds. Included is a range of sock yarn in a whole kaleidoscope of colours - and as a ball of yarn is so easily packed, Rod & I both chose a colour to take back home. I've just finished Rod's choice - it knitted up beautifully and will be a lovely souvenir of our wonderful holiday!

Yesterday I had another fun session volunteering as a Red Dress Ambassador at the Museum of Brisbane - I think it was busier overall than the first week! Maybe Ekka visitors are adding to numbers, or maybe the dress just sells itself?

This gorgeous panel was created by stitchers in Columbia - I'm loving the colours! It amazes me that I've spent several hours with the dress now, and I'm still finding new things - and with every question I'm asked, and every visitor discussion, there's more to learn!

Tip: if you'd like to visit at a quieter time of day, security say that that visitor numbers calm a lot after about 1.30 - 2.00pm

Quilt Rescue - Part 2

The binding and top are off! In good condition and definitely save-worthy! I can even re-use the binding by simply turning it over.

It amazed me how much the fabric relaxed as it was seperated from the matted wool batting - you could almost imagine a sigh of relief!

I've now given the top a really good press and it's sitting waiting to be sandwiched with new (cotton!) batting and backing 🙂

Today was my first shift as a Red Dress Ambassador - loved it!
It's a privilege to spend a few hours chatting to like-minded stitchers who are all on their own creative journeys, and wonderful to see the inspiration glistening in their eyes as they drank in all the beauty.
It was so interesting to see how long people spent looking, and how many stopped back many times.

Today's favourite panels are from Mexico (all those French knots 👌) and Russia!

Let me know if you'd like to come down to see the dress on one of my Ambassador days - I just go down on the train - easy 🙂 and there's plenty of other interesting exhibits on at the moment to complement the dress.

Quilt Rescue - Part 1
This quilt has been sitting in the naughty corner for a very long time! I came home from a trip away to find it had been through a hot wash followed by a tumble dry - it was thoroughly felted (wool batting) and looked totally ruined! Devastating!!

We couldn't bear to just dump our favourite quilt - it had been with us for at least 20 years, and so many people contributed to it's making 🫶

I've made a start by unpicking the binding and working on separating the layers gosh the fabrics have faded, but thankfully they appear to still be in good condition!

This afternoon I'm doing a little hand sewing project - changing up some buttons, and what a difference it makes!

Does anyone out there mind the generic white buttons that appear on everything these days? Personally, I can't stand them!!

Love a feature button, but white shirt buttons on a dark shirt ... 🤢

Showing my age ???? 🤔

We've finally returned from our delayed/amended trip to Europe and slowly settling back into everyday life.
My World Cup socks are progressing nicely, but I don't think the early mornings have helped get over any jet lag!
If you'd like to see what we got up to while we were away - check out my personal page
So many highlights, and I can say I've been to Italy four times this year! 🤣😂

If anyone is wanting to join me for some sewing time, I should be back in the studio next week 🤞just let me know, and we can figure out days/times.
