It always feels a bit counter intuitive to drop grapes on the ground when they look like this (Left), but there is a number of good reasons for doing this. Firstly I am not looking for a large volume of grapes. The big tight bunches can promote botrytis disease, and I’m trying to help the vine to get more flavours into smaller more open bunches.

We have been watching these little birds get ready to leave home for some days and today was the day. To see all three of them flying over the house with mum and dad was a real joy.
