Providence Vineyards Tasmania

Providence Vineyards Tasmania Tasmania's oldest vineyard producing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling.

Established by Jean and Cecile Miguet in 1956 and originally named La Provence (reflecting the French region where Jean came from) The vineyard came into Bryce hands in 1980 and has since expanded. Following lengthy legal proceedings in the Federal Court initiated by an ambulance chaser from Melbourne (which we won), We decided on a name change to take the vineyard off the legal spotlight and sett

led on "Providence": adding the "ID" to the original name. The vineyard, although still very small, has expanded slightly but still focussed on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling.

As the growing season draws to its end so the preparation for harvest commences.  Nets to protect from birds …. tick …. monitoring canopies …. ongoing …. and grape maturity …. soon …. and heading towards an Anzac Day harvest …. bring it on!  A later bud burst, flowering and colour change indicate vintage 23 is 7 to 10 days later than V22 and similar to 2019.
