Wilimee Wines Wilimee is a small family run vineyard in the Macedon Ranges home of Ben Ranken and Sally Richardson. Our philosophy is simple: we make great wine.

Wilimee is a small family-run vineyard in the Macedon Ranges. Home of Ben Ranken and Sally Richardson. At an altitude of 600m, the cool climate is perfect for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. We hand pick the grapes that we grow on rare Cambrian soil, some of the oldest in Australia. The vineyard is next to a sacred quarry, once mined by the Wurundjeri people.

It’s been pouring with rain over the past day or so but nothing to regret as our cover crop recieved a bit of rain and warmth last week to get it going… we won’t see much till spring when hopefully all these flowers pop up. Each variety of plant provides different nutrients to the soil and therefore the vines.. it means good vine health… happy ducks who feed off the nutrient rich plants and happy us.. giving the soil what it desperately needs…

We often get asked about our wine labels.. our estate grown Wilimee is the talented work of graphic designer who had to dust off her paint set to deliver the work. The by Wilimee is a range of artwork painted by our daughters and myself. It all began back in the early days of our business when there was small kids, nappies, exhaustion and a bit of crafting.. but mostly living life paddling pretty hard. In comes Ben’s brother Charlie, his new wine bar and naturally requested our wine but with a label. With most of our spare cash going on sleep deprived remedies (take home meals and chiropractic/ acupuncture work) I found a piece of artwork on a brown paper bag and we submitted it to Madeline to make it into a label. Thus our Heathcote label was born… it’s all about the family, creativity and things born from the land…
