Congratulations again to all exhibitors and connections. It takes a great deal of work to prepare, present and exhibit cattle to this standard, and every animal in the ring was a credit to the people behind them.

I am especially proud of the Koolah Creek-bred cattle who were presented so beautifully throughout the show. Seeing cattle we have bred go on to perform for their new owners is incredibly rewarding.

A wonderful result for all involved, and a great lead-in to the AHCS National Show next month. Did you notice the “product placement” for the

We can't wait to meet Bridie's calf 💕 she is in the early stages of labour! There's nothing cuter than a newborn baby Highland calf. We have our fingers crossed for a heifer - but whether a baby boy or girl, we'll be happy so long as it arrives safely.

AHCS Council voting closes TODAY at 7pm. If you haven’t had a chance to vote yet, please take a few minutes to have your say.

📣 AHCS members - voting closes this Friday. If you haven’t voted yet, now’s the time. Council voting is your opportunity to have a real say in the direction of our Society and the future of the Highland breed in Australia.

This isn’t just a formality - who sits on Council shapes how our Society operates, how members are represented, and how we protect the integrity, welfare, and heritage of Highland cattle.

I have accepted a nomination for Council, nominated by Tim Wright (Stone Ridge Highlands, former AHCS President) and seconded by Jane Komacha (Hunter Highlands, current NSW State Representative and former Councillor).

Over the past five years, I’ve been actively involved across breeding, promotion, and member education through Koolah Creek Highlands. I currently serve as NSW State Representative and have been closely involved in rebuilding the NSW Highland Breeders Group, now serving as President. I’ve also contributed to field days, educational initiatives, and the planning of the 2026 AHCS National Show.

A key part of my focus has been working directly with members - supporting practical areas such as cattle husbandry, handling, breeding decisions, and understanding DNA testing, with a strong emphasis on animal welfare and best practice. I see this as a responsibility: contributing to informed, ethical, and transparent practices across our membership.

If you value practical experience, transparency, and a strong focus on representing members - along with a commitment to animal welfare, education, and preserving heritage - I would genuinely appreciate your support.

Take the time to read each candidate statement carefully. Look beyond the surface - consider the experience, the contribution, and the intent behind each nomination.

Choose candidates who align with your values, who will represent members, and who you trust to act in the best interests of the breed.

We all want a strong, transparent, and member-focused Society - one that represents its members, not individual agendas.

🗓️ Voting closes Friday 24 April at 7pm.

Set aside a few minutes today and make your vote count.

🐮 August bookings are now open! We’ve just released dates for August - and we’ve also managed to squeeze in 5 extra sessions this May.

If you’ve been trying to secure a spot, now is the time. These will book quickly.

The extra May sessions are limited and were only made possible by a bit of calendar reshuffling behind the scenes - so once they’re gone, that’s it. They’re also perfectly timed if you’d love to see newborn calves and learn more about our breeding program.

August availability has just gone live, giving you the chance to plan ahead. Our Experiences Mailing List subscribers have already had first access and have started snapping up their preferred dates.

We were previously 100% booked out through to late July - so if you’ve been waiting, thinking about it, or meaning to book… this is your window.

👉 Head to our website to view dates and secure your spot

A quick reminder that we don’t operate a waitlist, and sessions often book out fast: if you see a time that works for you, we recommend jumping on it.

Your support allows us to continue the work we care deeply about here at Koolah Creek - running our breeding program, caring for our cattle, and preserving the Highland breed, and also educating guests about farming, cattle, and where their food comes from.

It enables us to create meaningful, hands-on experiences that connect people back to agriculture, and this in turn allows us to contribute to the wider Highland community - whether that’s sharing knowledge, mentoring those starting out, or exhibiting our cattle and helping inspire the next generation of custodians of the breed.

Thank you again for being part of it all. 🤍
