The DNA results are in… but before we reveal them, we need your votes 👀

In the foreground is Digory - our stunning black embryo transfer bull calf.

His genetic dam is our gorgeous Glynis of Sea Crest, but the sire has been a little more of a mystery.

During our embryo flush program, Glynis was artificially inseminated twice - once with Skye High Cornerstone, and once Calum Seoladair 2nd of Killochries.

Then, she was served by Alasdair Leal of Koolah Creek.

So the possible sires are:

1. Skye High Cornerstone
2. Calum Seoladair 2nd of Killochries
3. Alasdair Leal of Koolah Creek

Who is Digory’s daddy?

“Thank you for the best day ever!!! 🐮🤎" 🥹

These beautiful photos were sent to us by a guest after their visit yesterday - and honestly, this is exactly why we love sharing the coos with you.

November Highland Cattle Experience dates are now open, and they’re already moving fast.

Our first round of November dates was released earlier this week, and as always, our Experiences Mailing List subscribers were notified first - so many have already snapped up their preferred sessions.

November is a gorgeous time to visit. The weather is warming up, the coos are looking beautiful, and our 2026 calves will be growing fast.

As we head towards summer, we offer fewer sessions to keep the cattle cool, comfortable and happy, with visits generally limited to early mornings and late afternoons.

A quick booking tip: please check all booking options to see the most availability. Some premium timeslots are only visible under the “Up to 4 Guests” option, and some are reserved for Highland cow photoshoot packages.

If your preferred date is already booked out, you can also join the automated waitlist for that date.

Koolah Creek is open strictly by appointment only - bookings are essential.

Koolah Creek Highlands
🥇 Breeders Group

What an incredible week for the Koolah Creek team at the Ekka! We could not be prouder of this group of coos and the results they brought home 🤎

There was a fantastic turnout of quality Highlands this year. To see cattle from our breeding program perform so well amongst such strong competition is something we are incredibly proud of.

We had a great time catching up with our friends from Mostyn, Vagabond and Rosewood Coos. Thank you everyone who came along and supported team highland!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped us get this week, from keeping the coos fed and watered, to getting them to the ring looking their very best.

And of course, an extra special moment for Aurora, taking out Supreme Highland Exhibit at EKKA 2026 ✨

The KCH crew made it to Ekka | Royal Queensland Show
Highland judging is on Friday 14/8 in the afternoon, in the main arena. Look for "Stud Beef Small Breeds" in the schedule. There are 12 Highlands from 4 different folds entered this year - come along and support all the Highland breeders!

You'll find the Highlands on the ground floor of the Large Animal Pavilion - when we aren't in the judging ring or wash bays of course!
Highlands will be at the Ekka until midday on Sunday 16/8 and we'd love to see you there.
(Make sure to ask the team before approaching or touching any animals - the coos need plenty of time to rest without being disturbed when they are away from home)

Huge thank you to Dakota for helping us out this year, we couldn't do it without you!

In case you missed it: bookings are essential.
Koolah Creek is open to guests by appointment only.

It's written everywhere - you simply can't find Koolah Creek without seeing it online or on signage.

If you enter the farm without a booking (even just to look), you are trespassing on private property.
It really is that simple.

Please respect our home.

If you want to see the Highlands, make a booking.

Who remembers baby Esme? 🥹🤎 Esme was such a favourite with our guests here at Koolah Creek. She had the cheekiest, most personable little personality and would do just about anything for scratches - which made letting her go especially hard.

She was one of those special heifers who had been firmly sitting on my keeper list… but Esme has now headed north to her new home in Queensland with Jules and Haylee at Vagabond Highlands Cattle and we couldn’t be prouder to see her absolutely thriving.

At the recent Gatton Agricultural Show, Esme was awarded:

🏆 Junior & Grand Champion Highland Female
🏆 Supreme Highland Exhibit
🏆 Grand Champion Small Breeds Female
🏆 Supreme Small Breeds Exhibit

That final win came against LOTS of entries across the small breeds - what an achievement for our little Esme!

It is honestly so difficult to let go of the calves we breed and raise, especially the really special ones. But seeing our calves like Esme head out into the world, thrive with their new owners and go on to perform so well is incredibly rewarding.

Even more than the ribbons, it makes us so proud to see cattle we have bred going out and doing their part for the Highland breed - representing the temperament, quality and character we work so hard to breed here at Koolah Creek.

We are incredibly proud of her - and very excited to keep watching what the future holds for this special girl. 🤎

And we won’t have to wait too long to see her again… we can’t wait to catch up with Esme at Ekka next month!

Congratulations to Vagabond Highlands and Esme! 🏆

If you know what this is… you’ll know why we’re SO excited 👀

Twenty-two embryos.

Our latest embryo flush produced 22 embryos from three of the very best cows in our breeding program.

Some of the cows and bulls behind these embryos are proven show champions. Others have earned their place through the qualities that matter just as much in the paddock - fertility, soundness, temperament, maternal ability and the quality of the calves they produce.

Every combination was carefully selected, and every embryo represents years of planning, exciting genetics and the possibility of a very special future Highland calf.

It is hard to explain just how much potential is sitting in this little tank.

Most will remain here at Koolah Creek as part of our own breeding program. We may make a very limited number of embryos available to other breeders - although, honestly, we don’t really want to part with any of them!

For now, we’re taking a moment to appreciate a result that exceeded even our hopes.

Yesterday was a very special birthday - Delilah turned 1! 🎂 Delilah is the first natural heifer calf out of one of our foundation cows, Lucy Leal of Lachlan Mhor. After 3 bull calves in a row, we were delighted to have this gorgeous heifer born last year!
Delilah's older brother Alasdair won hearts at Koolah Creek as a calf, and is now fold sire at Springside Highlands. He has won broad ribbons across NSW and Qld, and while Delilah is still very young we are looking forward to seeing if she will follow in her big brother's footsteps!
Delilah is one of the most clever little calves we've ever met - and she loves people. A cuddle with Delilah makes any day better. She's a favourite 💕
