🏆 EVENTING – YOUNG RIDER OF THE YEAR

Congratulations to La’Moza Velisha, winner of the 2026 Eventing Young Rider of the Year.

La’Moza has enjoyed a fantastic season across multiple horses and levels, with consistent improvement reflected in her results throughout the year.
She was part of the winning Australian team at the Oceania Championships in Adelaide, finishing 2nd individually in the CCI3*-L.

La’Moza also stepped up to 4-Star competition this year, winning both the Ballarat and Melbourne 4-Star events, before qualifying to compete overseas at the Under 25 World Championships in Millstreet, Ireland, where she finished an impressive 12th.
La’Moza wasn’t able to join us on Awards night, but we’re delighted that someone was able to accept the award on her behalf.

🏆 COACH OF THE YEAR – YONA LLOYD

Congratulations to Yona Lloyd, winner of the 2026 Coach of the Year Award.

Yona’s dedication, knowledge and unwavering support have helped riders achieve success at state, national and international level. Known for going above and beyond for his students, he provides guidance and practical support both in lessons and at competitions.

This year has produced some outstanding results, including multiple top-10 finishes in the CCI3*-L at Adelaide and supporting riders from 1* to 4* at Melbourne International, where he remained on-site throughout to assist his students.

A career highlight came at the Under 25 World Championships in Millstreet, Ireland, where Yona and La’Moza Velisha finished 12th in the world — the result of 12 months of dedicated training.

Yona’s coaching is built around long-term athlete development. Patient, honest and focused on building confidence as much as skill, he is generous with his time and expertise and always willing to help a rider who asks.

Congratulations Yona, and congratulations to all of our outstanding coaches who give so much to our riders and our sport. 👏

As we start to get into the thick of the Eventing Season be sure to pop this event in your schedule. A great way to finish the calendar year and give your horses a great experience before they have a little mini break whilst you celebrate the silly season.

Three young event riders.
From different states
All under 21
All now competing at FEI level.

Their Equestrian Australia journeys began together at Interschools, young riders from different corners of Australia with no idea where this sport might take them.

Fast forward a few years and they’re still crossing paths and more important doing it together , only now it’s at FEI events around the country, travelling and competing alongside and against each other from CCI1 right through to CCI4**.

But perhaps the best part of the journey is that somewhere between the competitions, kilometres travelled, wins, disappointments and long eventing weekends, they’ve become wonderful friends. 🩷

Different states, different horses, different journeys, but a friendship built through the same sport.
