Not a post about lollies tonight! 😂🍭

As some of you know, Hubby is a FIFO worker, which means in our family birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions are celebrated less by the actual date and more by “Right, almost everyone’s home… QUICK, LET’S DO IT!” 😂

So tonight we finally managed to gather most of the troops and celebrate Hubby’s belated birthday. 🎂❤️ Our eldest lives interstate and unfortunately couldn’t be there with us, so we were one family member short around the table.

For the occasion we decided to try Launceston’s brand new Ii Hanashi Izakaya, which has only been open for about a week… and what a fantastic choice it was! 🇯🇵🥢

The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was gorgeous and we had such a great night together. There may have been some serious over-ordering involved, but surely birthday calories don’t count when the birthday technically happened weeks ago? 🤔😂

Being a small business owner myself, I also have a huge appreciation for anyone brave enough to open the doors on a brand new venture. There is SO much work that happens behind the scenes before the first customer ever walks through that door, so it’s wonderful to see another fabulous new business joining our Launceston community. ❤️

If Japanese food is your thing, definitely add Ii Hanashi Izakaya to your list. Go along, try something new and show a brand new local business some love. 🥢🍶

And most importantly, Happy Belated Birthday to my wonderful Hubby. ❤️

FIFO life, interstate kids and grown-up schedules might dictate when we get to celebrate, but after all these years we’ve become pretty damn good at making our own calendar. 😂🥰
