Urban Wine Walk is coming back to Launceston 🍷
Saturday 2 May
12–4pm
One of the best afternoons on the Launceston events calendar is back and The Royal Oak is part of the trail again this year.
Urban Wine Walk brings wine lovers together for a self guided tasting adventure through some of the city’s best venues. Grab your crew, pick up your glass and wander your way around town discovering incredible wines and meeting the makers behind them.
At The Royal Oak we’ll be pouring wines from Beautiful Isle Wines, the project of second generation Tasmanian winemaker Cynthea Semmens and her husband David Feldheim. Cynthea grew up at biodynamically farmed Marion’s Vineyard in the Tamar Valley, and Beautiful Isle began with playful “field blend” experiments from fruit grown on the estate.
The wines are vibrant, fruit driven and wonderfully expressive. Think joyful blends that bring together varieties you might not normally see sharing the same bottle. Cabernet, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Tempranillo, Merlot and even a splash of Zinfandel have all made appearances.
The label itself is a tribute to Tasmania’s iconic 1930s apple crate art, discovered in the family’s old apple shed and reimagined for the bottles. Bright, colourful and unmistakably local, it’s a perfect match for wines that are just as lively and characterful.
The day includes tastings from winemakers across multiple venues, a keepsake tasting glass, plus vouchers for food and wine purchases along the way. It’s the perfect excuse to spend an afternoon exploring the city with friends, glass in hand.
