Last, But Certainly Not Least… Jade and Brooke

First up is Jade – the man who keeps the farm running.

Up before sunrise and often finishing well after sunset, Jade works tirelessly to ensure everything on the farm runs smoothly and that the cattle receive the very best care.

Farming has always been his passion. Ever since he was a young boy, all he ever wanted to do was farm, and today he’s living that dream every day.

One of the highlights of recent years has been having his daughters working by his side. Passing on his knowledge and watching the next generation develop the same passion for farming has been incredibly rewarding.

👩‍⚕️ Behind the scenes is Brooke

A nurse by trade, Brooke spends most days at the local hospital working as an Oncology Nurse Practitioner. When she’s not caring for patients, she’s busy keeping Southern & Daughters running behind the scenes.

From balancing the books and answering enquiries to organising orders and attempting to keep Facebook and Instagram up to date, there’s always something to do. Social media, however, is an art she’s still working on mastering! 😉

Together, Jade and Brooke are proud to raise 100% grass-fed, antibiotic-free beef and supply families with quality local produce. They’re passionate about knowing where food comes from and are incredibly grateful for the support of their local community and everyone who chooses Southern & Daughters.

🐄 Why do we weigh our cattle?

Regular weighing is one of the best tools we have for monitoring the health, growth, and performance of our herd.

By bringing our cattle through the yards for routine weigh-ins, we can:

• Track growth rates and ensure they’re meeting targets.
• Identify any animals that may not be thriving as expected.
• Monitor overall herd health and pick up potential issues early.
• Make informed decisions about nutrition and management to keep our cattle growing efficiently.

Good livestock management is about paying attention to the little things before they become big problems. Regular monitoring helps us ensure every animal is given the best opportunity to grow into healthy, quality beef.

At Southern & Daughters Beef, caring for our cattle is at the heart of everything we do. Every weigh-in is another step towards raising healthy animals and producing quality beef for your table. ❤️🐂

🤎 Meet Mackenzie

Mackenzie is the eldest daughter in the Southern & Daughters family.

Currently living away from home, Mackenzie is studying Agronomy while gaining hands-on experience working for an agricultural contractor. No two days are the same, with her work ranging from discing and sowing to cutting silage and hay and just about everything in between.

Although she’s building her own career, the family farm is never far from her heart and she happy to come home and lend a hand.

Her passion for agriculture and willingness to get stuck into any job make her an important part of the Southern & Daughters family, no matter where she is 🌾🐄

Meet Scarlett 🌱🚜

Sadly for us, Scarlett is currently away studying at university, completing a degree in Exercise Sports Science and Nutrition, but her love for the farm is just as strong as Amalie and Montanah’s.

Whenever she’s home, you’ll find her straight back where she belongs, out in the paddocks checking on the cattle, in the tractor feeding stock, or working up the ground alongside the family.

Her passion for health, nutrition, and farming all go hand in hand, and we have no doubt her studies will eventually lead her back home. We can already picture her helping educate locals about the importance of fresh, sustainable food and the benefits of locally raised, 100% grass-fed beef 🥩🌱

No matter where life takes her, the farm will always be a huge part of who she is ❤️

Meet Montanah 🚜🔧

Like her sister, Montanah is also finishing her studies online, balancing school while completing an apprenticeship as a diesel mechanic in town during the week.

When she’s not at work, you’ll usually find her back on the farm helping wherever needed or tinkering away on the machinery.

Whether it’s fixing, servicing, or figuring out how things work, there’s not much she won’t have a go at.

Her passion for mechanics and farm life go hand in hand, and before too long we reckon she’ll know more than her father when it comes to the machinery 😅

Having someone who understands both farming and mechanics is invaluable around here, and Montanah is quickly becoming the go-to girl when something needs fixing.

Meet our youngest farmer, Amalie 🐄🐾

Still at school and completing her studies online so she can continue being hands-on every single day on the farm, Amalie’s passion for farming is truly second to none.

From the dairy to pasture rotation, monitoring the beef cattle, and making sure every animal is happy and healthy, she’s involved in all parts of farm life. But what she loves most is working alongside her kelpies, training them to gently handle and move stock with patience and care.

To say she knows every cow on the farm would be an understatement, from the newborn calves right through to the adult cows, each one gets plenty of love, attention, and scratches from Amalie ❤️

Around here, we call her the “Cow Whisperer” 🐄✨
Her dedication, calm nature, and genuine love for the animals are a huge part of what makes our farm so special.
