Doing what I love! 🇦🇺🇺🇸

I’ve had an absolute blast so far at Archer Valley Ranch!

From artificially inseminating cows using imported Cann Valley genetics, to implanting embryos produced from Australian Lowline embryos we exported from home, it’s been incredibly rewarding to see our genetics making an impact on the other side of the world.

To top it all off, we recently helped run our very first international cattle clinic, sharing knowledge, learning from others, and connecting with passionate cattle producers from across the globe.

It’s been a fantastic experience and a great reminder of how agriculture brings people together, no matter where you are in the world!

It’s been a busy few weeks helping our clients achieve their goals.

Last weekend we travelled to Braidwood to work with Full Blood Stud, assisting with DNA testing, tagging, vaccinations and cattle selection as they continue building their breeding program.

Full Blood Stud have been wonderful supporters of Cann Valley Cattle Co, purchasing foundation females, embryos and semen over the years. It’s been incredibly rewarding to watch their herd grow into one of the larger Australian Lowline herds in the country. We thank Darren for his ongoing support of our program.

On the way home, we stopped in to clip five outstanding Shorthorn bulls for Oaklands Shorthorns ahead of the upcoming Dubbo Shorthorn Sale.

That takes us to just over 100 sale cattle clipped in the past month!

While we are always striving to achieve our own goals, there is something equally rewarding about helping our clients achieve theirs.

Thank you to Will Mann for tagging along and your assistance throughout the weekend - I know you learnt lots and loved the experience.

Another exciting day at Cann Valley Cattle Co.

We were very pleased to deliver a starter herd of 4 beautifully bred Australian Lowline heifers to a passionate new breeder with big dreams for the future.

Looking at the grass, we think these girls may have just gone to heaven!

It’s incredibly rewarding seeing quality cattle head to such caring homes, and we look forward to watching this herd grow for years to come.

I thought it was the perfect time to start halter training this heifer at weaning time.

I had her in the yards and she was doing fantastic, so I tied her up while I went off to do a couple of jobs. I came back to find her back out in the paddock drinking from her mum… halter still attached!

Safe to say somebody didn’t do a very good knot! 😂

Introducing Cann Valley Warm Sentiment — out of Tarrawarra Fantasia and the very first heifer calf by Cann Valley Sir Ulysses.

We absolutely admire this heifer for her growth, length, softness and structural soundness. She’s definitely one to watch and will join our show team!

The calves we now have on the ground by Ulysses are proving to be absolutely phenomenal and we cannot wait to share these genetics worldwide.

We are all set up at the National Wodonga Hereford Show & Sale on behalf of Hyland Herefords all the way from TAS!

We have been fortunate to have had these bulls since January for breaking in and preparation.

It’s been a big week on the road! 2902KM to be exact.

We headed up to the QLD Dexter Show in Nanango.

Our clients - Carragheen Dexters (Louise Ball) and Dun N Rusted Dexters (Don Hearn) what a result it was.

We’re always proud to see our clients do well, but this week went beyond that… these results were outstanding.

Great day out at the Field Day hosted by our good friends at Silvan Park Belted Galloways, on behalf of the Australian Galloway Association.

I was fortunate to be invited to present a talk on Beef Cattle Structure - something I’m very passionate about. It was an excellent group of Galloway breeders and beef producers, with plenty of engagement, quality questions, and genuine interest throughout the session.

Days like this are what it’s all about, sharing knowledge, having good conversations, and helping people walk away with something they can take back to their own programs.

A special mention to Sarah Sutton who came along to do a talk on Nutrition. It’s always a pleasure and something pretty special to be presenting alongside a long-time friend.

Looking forward to more days like this.
