We’re the two ICU nurses who bought a commercial apple orchard with no farming background and have created a tourism destination focused on providing amazing experiences. We’ve been featured on ABCs National News and Landline, we’ve been in a podcast and even done a live cross on Studio 10. We really understand people and our goal is always to make people happy. Our orchard does weddings, events, educational tours and during apple season is open every weekend and throughout school holidays for pick your own apples.

I can’t believe it! 😆🍎

Our orchard is featured in SA Life Magazine’s Annual Guide for Food, W**e & Travel! 🥹 As one of the top 5 things to do in the Visit Adelaide Hills!

And thank goodness they used one of the SA Tourism Commission’s photos - because otherwise the photo would have had my excitement face in it! 😬

One of those ‘it’s all worth it moments!’ ❤️

What a day! 🏁🚘

Yesterday we headed out to see the RAA Bay to Birdwood- it’s a favourite on the Shipway calendar! Done the Ship-way.. we upgraded our viewing rig this year to feature an outdoor lounge setting, bbq breakky and comfy bean bags for the girls on the trailer so everyone was not only contained but had a good view!

Our neighbours would also argue that the company was upgraded this year as they basked in the ambiance too!

Daisy learnt what a ‘burn out’ was and nearly lost her voice yelling in excitement 💨😂

💥We found out today... that we are finalists for the 'South Australian Primary Producer Award' for the .awards this year!

We feel it's not bad for a couple of nurses hey! before starting our business we knew there were red apples, green apples and maybe some yellow ones too, oh and that they grew on trees - that's about it. Now finalists for a Primary Producer award - anything is possible! Maybe pigs really do fly?

Wish us luck for November when we head to the Gala Dinner (hopefully a Royal Gala 🍎😆) to find out if we have won!

Every. Single. School. Excursion we hear the same thing.. from teachers - literally every time.

'I have NEVER seen that kid eat fruit before?!'
or another version
'I have only seen them eat beige colours!'

It is one of the most rewarding things, watching kids learn where their food comes from.

Last weekend we checked out the cherry blossoms at Birdwood!

Soon enough we’ll be open for cherry picking there - it will come around before we know it!

They’re so pretty and actually very different to apple blossoms! 🍎

Emily an employee again for a day 🤪
(I even wore my uniform correctly)

Chris told me I was getting out of farming work by going and working for another business for free 🤔😂

And I bet Tim was happy he wasn’t paying for me! 😅

Tim and Helen from the beloved Hokey Pokey have helped us out so much over the years it was time for me to return the favour at one of their busiest times - The Show! 🎆 so yesterday I spent the day scooping ice creams and promoting their amazing business 🍦❤️

There are so many places at the show to grab an ice cream - BUT there is literally only one place you should go ➡️ They’re ice cream is ALL made in house with 90% of their produce coming from local farmers by the talented Helen. It’s all natural and they’re a mum and dad business JUST like us - they’ve even scored themselves 3 girls! 🎀🤣

Head to the Dairy Hall - you can’t miss them, their stand is unmissable and if you need a coffee head over to their horse-float trailer across from the wood chopping and stationary machinery!

There’s not many people I know that work harder than these guys AND do it all with massive friendly smiles on their face 🫡

It was ChemCERT Training training day today..

To be able to purchase, transport, store and use any chemicals on a commercial farm you have to have a certification as it is highly regulated..

Was a bit weird, because last time we did it was 5 years ago (you have to do it every 5 years)! 5 years ago we hadn’t even sprayed yet and had only just started our business.. so this time it was MUCH easier and a bit of an eye opener in how much we’ve learnt since taking the leap in starting our business.

I did have to clarify with Chris one of the calculations like this: “so this like, this is the drug in the syringe and that is the IV bag we’re adding it too and that’s the rate we’re running it at… mLs/hr”.. and I got a “yes.. Emily”🤦‍♀️

Putting things in nursing language still makes waaaay more sense to me 😂

Lucky for me I had my trusty Rustic Wren_Adelaide Hills diary with me for note taking - this thing goes EVERYWHERE with me! 🥰 it’s even in my favourite and our business colours - red and black 👌🏻

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAISY! 🎀 and HAPPY FATHERS DAY CHRIS! 🏆

What a weekend it’s been at our place..

We celebrated Father’s Day on Saturday as today is Daisy’s special day! We’ve had lots of food and lots of celebrating - just the way it should be right?!

Happy Birthday GM - she’s a force to be reckoned with our Daisy - an incredibly capable girl that we’re so proud of ❤️

And to the Father of the business and most importantly our very lucky girls - Chris, another incredibly capable human. Happy Father’s Day!

Me, our girls and our staff say - If Dad/Chris can’t fix it.. it’s completely effed. Plain and simple. 🫡
