During a scheduled Water Treatment Plant service in the Atherton Tablelands in late 2025, AquaManage carried out critical maintenance to resolve ongoing issues within the plant’s pneumatic system.

As part of the works, our team removed and replaced the existing solenoid rack, which had reached end-of-life condition, and installed new airlines throughout the system. Prior to the upgrade, the compressor was operating for an average of 45 hours during a 200-hour Ultrafiltration (UF) run cycle.

Following completion of the works, a review of plant performance data revealed a significant improvement. Compressor runtime over the same 200-hour operating period reduced to just 15 hours.

This improvement has delivered:
• Lower power consumption
• Reduced mechanical wear on the compressor
• Improved pneumatic system reliability
• Ongoing operational cost savings for the customer

This outcome highlights the value of proactive maintenance and targeted component replacement in extending asset life, improving plant efficiency, and delivering measurable performance gains.

AquaManage (AQM) recently flew to the outback township of Innamincka in South Australia, located along Cooper Creek, part of the Lake Eyre Basin. The area is rich in history and is home to the famous Innamincka Hotel, a popular stopover for travellers along the Strzelecki Track.

The water supply upgrade at the Hotel involved the installation and commissioning of a new AQM-MEMPRO-Quad Ultrafiltration Unit, featuring PVdF 0.04 μm hollow fibre membrane technology with in-situ Membrane Integrity Testing (PDT). The AQM-engineered controller enables remote accessibility for ongoing monitoring and control — ideal for remote locations like Innamincka, where on-site visits can be challenging and costly.

The new PDT function ensures the system meets State Government Health Department requirements for monitoring and validating membrane performance.

AquaManage was recently engaged by Shoalhaven City Council (SCC) for the installation and commissioning of new Memcor® B40N Membrane Filtration Modules at the Kangaroo Valley Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) combines a biological process with membrane separation, followed by ultraviolet (UV) primary disinfection and chlorine residual disinfection. The system comprises two MOS cells, each containing 28 membranes. The old membranes were at end-of-life, had failed integrity tests, and were heavily fouled.

AquaManage worked alongside Council staff to carry out the works safely and efficiently. The new membrane filtration modules provided an immediate improvement to the plant’s operation, with markedly increased efficiency, reduced power usage, improved fibre integrity resulting in higher log removal, and ultimately, better treated water quality for compliant reuse.

AquaManage is currently working in Kangaroo Valley, NSW, home to the heritage-listed Hampden Bridge - Australia’s last surviving wooden suspension bridge.

This upgrade involves the design, installation, and commissioning of a second UF unit (CPII MemRACK®), consisting of 28 MEMCOR® L40 Hollow Fiber Membranes. These membranes are a key component of the ultrafiltration system, enhancing water filtration quality, reliability, and redundancy, now with an identical duty/standby arrangement.

The new UF unit includes a valve skid, Local Control Panel (LCP), and Human Machine Interface (HMI) to complement the existing MemRACK® system installed by AquaManage in 2019. To create the space required for the new system, the original mid-range unit was decommissioned and removed, along with other redundant equipment. The new skid was then integrated into the existing pipework, pumps, ancillary equipment, and associated control systems. During this upgrade, we also modified the CIP batching system to further improve occupational health and safety (OH&S).
