A few weeks can make a big difference in the vineyard. 🌱

The first buds have quickly turned into fresh shoots and leaves, and the rows are starting to look very different from their winter state.

This early part of the growing season is all about establishing healthy growth and setting the vines up for the months ahead. From here, the shoots will continue to lengthen, the canopy will fill out and the vineyard will keep changing almost week by week.

One of our favourite times of year to watch it all come back to life. 🍇

The vineyard is waking up. 🌱

After winter pruning, the first signs of the new growing season are beginning to appear across the vineyard.

Budburst marks the point where dormant vines start back into active growth, with tiny shoots and leaves emerging from the buds left during pruning.

It’s an exciting stage, but also an important one. From here, the vines will move quickly through the growing season as shoots lengthen, foliage develops and, eventually, the foundations of the next crop begin to take shape.

Every season starts quietly — and this is where the next vintage really begins. 🍇

Introducing our first ever Estate Grown Pinot Gris. 💛

A few years ago, we took a fresh look at one of the lower-lying blocks of our Kenton Valley vineyard. After 25 years of Shiraz, it was time for something different.

The site naturally holds a little more moisture, making it a much better fit for Pinot Gris. So we grafted Pinot Gris onto the established Shiraz rootstock — and this is the result.

Hand harvested and gently pressed, with a small portion barrel fermented and put through malolactic fermentation, the 2026 Pinot Gris is aromatic and textural, with floral notes, ripe pear, a creamy mid-palate and a fresh, savoury finish.

It’s also the first new variety introduced to our Kenton Valley vineyard in many years — and an exciting sign of what’s still to come.

Where a new vintage begins. 🌱

Winter pruning might happen while the vineyard is quiet, but it plays an important part in the season ahead.

Each cut helps shape the vine, manage growth and set the groundwork for the fruit to come. It’s one of those behind-the-scenes jobs that has a big influence on the season ahead.

As the vineyard begins to wake from winter, the next vintage is already taking shape. 🍇

The last days of winter in the vineyard. 🐑🍇

While the vines have been resting, our woolly vineyard crew have been hard at work keeping the grass and weeds in check.

But with spring here and the vines beginning to wake, their job amongst the rows is nearly done for another season.

A changing of the seasons at Kenton Valley — and the beginning of another growing year.
