I've been testing a lot of cookies lately. I thought I finally got it right on the wkend, but man I was so wrong. The milk chocolate chip batch had too much baking soda that resulted in an unpleasant after taste.

Back to the drawing board. Lucky we had some white chocolate cookies that tasted fine!

I love cookbooks. I own so many of them. Probably too many by some standards!

Cooper seems to have inherited my love of baking and cookbooks. He asked to buy this one on the weekend - he said it's his fave chef. I don't know this cher but if my kid wants a cookbook, I'm buying him one!

He has been reading through the recipes everyday since we bought the book. He has been asking what the ingredients are and what they taste like. I am enjoying his culinary curiosity.

I’m very excited to see what he makes from it.

I think we have another chef in the making! 🧑‍🍳

I have closed my bakery early this term. It was a rollercoaster as I learned to juggle school and wkend team sports.

Big thanks to my mum tribe for sharing the load in driving, pick ups and drop offs. I am forever grateful.

I will be in town during the school holidays and I may open to help you with your holiday snacks. I will keep you posted.

Thank you for supporting my bakery this term. I hope the bakes have been enjoyable.

They say we are blessed to be a blessing…

And I was recently very blessed with an abundance of bananas!

A massive thank you to Brooke and Dan Walker and Brooke Machin for gifting us with bananas over these last few weeks

There’s only so much banana bread one family can eat - although we were prepared to give it a red hot go 😅, so I thought we’d spread the banana love around instead.

This box of banana breads are being donated to Our Lady's Catholic School for the pastoral care and Father’s Day Breakfast.

Paying it forward, one banana bread at a time.

And if anyone else finds themselves blessed with an excessive amount of bananas… you know where to find me. 😉

An interesting cake I encountered in Japan was the Baumkuchen. Ironically this is a German cake, not Japanese. But it's BIG in Japan.

Baumkuchen features concentric rings that resemble tree rings. This particular cake that I bought had a buttery flavour - like a pound cake - and each bite was delightful. I don't know if there are different flavours of this cake.

I've looked at videos on how they make this and it looks very technical. It would definitely be an interesting bake.

Last month I had cakes that didn’t get collected. No messages, no calls, no show 😭

Thankfully, this is not a regular occurrence. I'm grateful that my cakes always get snapped up in seconds.

But this happened twice this year and both times I’ve been left with significant orders sitting sadly in my fridge wondering where their people have gone.

I completely understand that plans change, things come up, kids do kid things… I get it.

But if you know you’re not going to make it for collection, please, please PLEASE send me a quick message as early as you can.

This gives me a chance to find the cake a new home… or let my family claim it before I eat it myself. 😂

For those who are new to Whisky Business, I’m a tiny home bakery and every cake means:
🛒 Ingredients purchased
🧼 Kitchen prepped
👩‍🍳 Time spent baking
⏰ Time spent cooling, packaging and preparing your order

So when an order doesn’t get collected, it’s not just a cake that’s left behind. there’s quite a bit of time and effort sitting in that tray.

As always, I’m incredibly grateful for every order and every person who chooses to support me. ❤️

I recently bought my very first Le Creuset. It's a little milestone I'm really proud of.

I've been saving for 3 years, and bringing it home felt pretty special.

I know that to many it's "just a casserole dish". To me, it's THE casserole dish of my dreams. And this means your orders make my dreams come true 🥰 thank you!

I'm excited to bake artisan breads in this! Oh and maybe the occasional casserole 😅
