Tarago Valley Tarago Valley is a certified organic dairy farm in West Gippsland

We are young farmers that are passionate and committed to the dairy model of a small herd, raising all of our male calves to maturity, nurturing our land through biodiversity and sustainable organic practices. Our beautiful cows graze the lush pastures of the Tarago River flats, producing a rich creamy milk for our products. We are proud of producing a product that is certified organic, additive free and contains no growth hormones or genetically modified organisms.

This mornings job was helping Caroline doing Herd Test, it’s something we do every 2nd month, not a job we love, setting up and packing away is time consuming. Herd testing shows is what the cows production is, what their fat and protein and their somatic cell count.

Popped up to see Michael today, his tractors are back home after he finished spreading effluent and fertiliser on the dairies. The old Zetor parked in the middle, we bought in 1996, Michael was 6 years old, I remember when he was nine, he taught me how to drive it, and today it is pretty much the only tractor I can drive confidently.

As we are moving the heifers to a new paddock, I captured this shot.

That’s a lot of heifers that will be joining the milking herd in the next few months. They are so wel trained, as soon as they see us in the buggy they know it’s time to move into a new paddock.
