Lowden Ridge Farm Free Range Organic Farmer and Creator and the small olive grove which produces extra virgin olive oil.

Nestled in the rolling hills in picturesque heart of the South West region of Western Australia, Lowden Ridge Farm is close to the Ferguson Valley, Donnybrook, Wellington Dam and Collie. Lowden Ridge uses organic principles to raise beef cattle, dorper sheep, alpacas, geese, ducks, guinea fowl, turkeys, chickens. Olive Oil Products including oils and soaps are available all year and beef / lamb products are available on request.

New life on the farm. Poor little guy got stuck and I didn't think he was going to make it. Momma wouldn't let me near her and it took ages to get her out of the paddock and into a pen. By then little guy had been stuck for nearly an hour. Thank goodness for my mate Jo who came over just in time to help and pulled the little fella out. I think his name is gonna be Gremlin or Gizmo, since mumma started out in the rain and when he got wet... he was a troublesome little fella

So thankful for the rain today.
It's been 6 months since we had any significant rain here in Lowden and the farm is dry as a bone. So many of the Marri and Jarrah trees have turned up their toes, both rain water tanks empty, stock dam totally dry and the big dam dropped so low that I could no longer get water to to yards.
So today I'm doing a little dance 💃

Not sure I'd want to be standing behind that piece of equipment either.

It's been a week since my last Helpx'ers left. I always get a little nervous before new travellers arrive hoping that we will all get along. But usually by the end of their visit we have developed amazing freindships and my last helpers Lèa, Rehan and Anais were no exception and I miss them already.
They got the full farm experience from collecting alpaca and goat p**p to make compost, to lots of weeding, planting and harvesting in the veggie patch, to cleaning out sheds and old wood piles and in the process getting their first introduction to plenty of redback spiders and even a dugite snake along the way. The girls were good sports, didn't mind getting dirty and working hard and gave everything a crack.. There was plenty of time to do some exploring and opportunities to hang out and meet other locals or doing fun stuff like feeding and hanging out with all the critters, or just chillin' watching TV or having crazy conversations or listening to some great music...80's all the way. They now also know all about John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes 😉🤪 poor kids!!

The Farm produces Extra Virgin Olive oil from the small olive grove of 200 trees, amazing Honey from the busy bee hives, award winning Jams, Pickles & Preserves PLUS Pasture Raised Beef Cattle and Dorper Sheep.

Using the olive oil, essential oils and other natural ingredients, Lowden Ridge also produces a range of CHEMICAL FREE - Skin, Hair and Household products.

Rambo and Titan, the Alpacas spend their days guarding the small flock of dorper sheep and Molly the beautiful Maremma dog, guards the multitude of pet poultry including geese, ducks, guinea fowl, turkeys, chickens oh and me too.
