A weekend of w**e tastings, workshops, cultural cuisine and community is coming to you this Winter. Dale Tilbrook from Maalinup Aboriginal Gallery will be there sharing the involvement of First Nation people in the Swan Valley grape industry and sharing indigenous art and bush foods.

There is a reason why it is important to label bottles. I was all set for a fire c***r and picked up a bottle of what I thought was fire c***r, only to realise that it was ginger/honey cordial instead. Made for a delicious cuppa with cinnamon and a spoon full of Bee Tea.

It's time to say goodbye to some of our b**r brewing equipment, including a beautiful brewery that has been waiting for use for six years. If you're interested in a unique piece of German-made equipment, please get in touch. We hope it finds a deserving home. It is made by Wachsmann and is a 10hl 3 vessel system.

Show us your pedal power!

On World Disco Soup Day this Saturday 27 April we’re not only cooking up heaps of delicious soup from food ‘scraps’ we will have the blender bike on site so you can whip up your own smoothie using pedal power!

If you care about food waste as much as we do, you probably have a freezer loaded with rescued produce you are absolutely planning to use one day... It’s a bit of a conundrum really – as saving all those surplus zucchinis and all that just-about-to-go-brown spinach demands a lot of freezer space – and whether or not that’s a waste of precious power is a question we ponder often.

Bananas are a common culprit at the Locavore store, as their ideal eating window is so short, and once they ripen they are unsaleable and straight in the smoothie freezer!

While Araluen Hagan is known to mash a banana into just about every cake, slice, and muffin she cooks up at the store, we still have plenty in the freezer! So we can’t wait to see how many people can DIY their own delicious smoothie with pedal power this World Disco Soup Day! (looking forward to that extra freezer space)
