Fresh in store this week at Gateway Fruit Stalls FNQ — some incredible tropical fruits that are a little bit unique and definitely worth trying! 🌿🥭

🖤 Black Sapote
Often called the “chocolate pudding fruit,” Black Sapote has a soft, rich texture when fully ripe and a naturally sweet flavour that reminds many people of chocolate mousse or caramel pudding. Don’t let the green skin fool you — inside is a dark, creamy fruit packed with Vitamin C and fibre. Delicious eaten fresh with a spoon, blended into smoothies, or added to desserts.

💚 Soursop
Soursop is a tropical fruit with soft white flesh and a sweet tangy flavour often described as a mix between pineapple, strawberry, and citrus. It’s juicy, refreshing, and commonly enjoyed in smoothies, juices, or eaten fresh. Loved across tropical regions for generations, it’s also rich in antioxidants and Vitamin C.

💛 Abiu
Abiu is a beautiful tropical fruit with smooth yellow skin and soft, creamy flesh inside. Its flavour is often compared to vanilla custard or crème caramel, with a delicate sweetness that makes it perfect eaten chilled straight from the spoon. Refreshing, unique, and packed with Vitamin C.

All locally grown and available now in limited quantities at Gateway Fruit Stalls FNQ 🌴🍍
Pop in and try something new while they’re in season!

Thanks so much for all the shares, comments, messages, and support following my video. It’s sparked a really important conversation around community values, trust, and respect — because honesty systems only work when people choose to do the right thing.

Also a big thank you to .mason.9847 from Mayson’s Cafe for kindly donating fruit to help restock the stall. Legends like this are what community is all about.

Last night at 11:03pm, two individuals wearing masks attended our Daintree Gateway Fruit Stall in what appears to be an older model LandCruiser.

They did leave some money—but only a fraction of what was taken.

We’d really like to have a conversation with you.

We understand times are tough and the cost of living is affecting everyone—but underpaying (especially while masked) isn’t the same as doing the right thing. Our stall runs on honesty and supports local growers and families.

If you recognise the people or the vehicle, please reach out or send us a private message.

Please share—our community looks after each other, and this isn’t in the spirit of that.

This Easter long weekend, we did something that felt really important — we crossed the Daintree River ferry and headed into the World Heritage–listed Daintree Rainforest 🌿

For weeks, this beautiful community has been cut off due to relentless weather, with limited access and very few visitors making the journey across. And while the road (and ferry!) might be open again, the impact on local families and small businesses is still very real.

So we packed up, made the trip, and chose to spend our time — and our money — right here.

Because supporting local isn’t just a nice idea… it’s how communities recover. Every coffee, every meal, every little purchase goes directly back into the hands of the people who live, work, and care for this incredible place.

And honestly? It was magic. The rainforest is alive, thriving, and absolutely worth the trip.

If you’ve been thinking about heading up — this is your sign. Go the extra mile. Cross the river. Stay local. Spend local.

Because when we do that, our communities don’t just survive — they grow 🌱

Oomans… OOMANS!!! 🐒🌿

The ferry is BACK and apparently civilisation has returned… which means our friends across the river have officially rejoined the land of coffee, conversations, and questionable WiFi 😜

🚗 The road is open
⛴️ The ferry is running
🌴 And both Cape Tribulation and the Daintree are OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Come on up, come on over, come spend your dollars where they really matter!

Now… in true “real ooman” form, I’ve just posted a video in my pyjamas, no makeup, hair doing its own rainforest survival thing… so honestly the real question is — who is the real ooman here? 😂

But in all seriousness, with everything going on in the world right now, there has never been a more important time to keep things local. Support your people. Support your places. Keep your money circulating right here in our beautiful backyard 🌏✨

The Daintree is alive, thriving, and ready for you!

This morning wasn’t really about fruit. It was about people.

With the ferry out, getting fresh food across the river hasn’t been easy. So today, over 200kg of fruit made the journey a different way — by boat — and found its way to the SES shed, ready to be shared.

But what stood out most wasn’t the delivery… it was the feeling.

The early starts. The quiet coordination. People helping people, without fuss or expectation. Boats coming and going, hands loading and unloading, conversations happening like they always do — steady, familiar, connected.

This over-the-river community has supported my fruit stall for a long time now. You’ve shown up, backed local, and made it what it is. Today just felt like a small way to reflect that back.

There’s something really special about a place where people look out for each other without needing to be asked. Where community isn’t just a word — it’s something you see, feel, and are part of.

I felt really proud to be part of that this morning.

Grateful for our community. Always 🤍

Dragon fruit is well and truly in season right now, and it’s not just beautiful to look at — it’s incredibly good for you too.

White dragon fruit is high in fibre, supporting gut health and digestion. It’s a great source of vitamin C, which helps support immunity and skin health, and it’s naturally hydrating while being low in calories. Dragon fruit also contains antioxidants that help protect the body from everyday stress.

With its mild, refreshing flavour, it’s perfect sliced fresh, added to smoothie bowls, or mixed through a fruit salad. Eating fruit in season means better flavour, better nutrition, and produce at its absolute best.

Simple, fresh, and nourishing — dragon fruit is definitely having its moment… lol, and so am I 🤣🤣
