Father’s Day is THIS SUNDAY and I am getting lots of questions, so I thought I would pop everything in one place for you!
1. Can we just rock up on Sunday?
Unfortunately, no.
We have sold all 600 tickets and we now have another 100 people on the waiting list, so only guests with a valid ticket will be able to enter the event on Sunday.
On that note, if you have tickets and you are no longer able to make it, PLEASE let us know.
There are lots of families on the waiting list who would absolutely love to come, so just send us an email at events@kiesw**es.com.au and we can help get those tickets to someone else.
2. What happened to the kids’ footy oval?
Okay, please forgive me on this one 😂
We have recently had major works done to our wastewater system and unfortunately the area where I was planning to make the kids’ footy oval has been dug up.
The ground just isn’t flat enough anymore for it to safely work.
So instead of me wandering around with a line marker attempting to create a footy oval… we have called in the professionals.
Our little footy oval has officially been upgraded to a full-on Footy Clinic hosted by Nexus Edge, who will be running footy activities for the kids throughout the day.
Honestly, probably an improvement on my original plan 😂
3. What else is there for the kids?
Quite a bit!
Along with the Nexus Edge Footy Clinic, we have added some Challenger Golf holes and croquet on the lawns, our usual lawn games, plus a soft play area for our littlest guests.
I really wanted there to be plenty for the kids to do so Mum and Dad might actually get a chance to sit down, have something to eat and enjoy a glass of w**e.
There should be something for everyone from the tiny ones right through to the bigger kids.
4. Does my ticket reserve a table?
No. Your ticket is entry to the event rather than a table reservation.
There will be plenty of seating around the venue, and we will also have seating stewards around the grounds to help you find a magical little spot to settle in for the day.
And honestly, there really isn’t a bad one on the lawns. You’ve got the vines, gardens and music around you and plenty of beautiful spots to choose from.
You are also very welcome to bring along a picnic rug or camping chairs.
So please don’t stress about racing through the gates to find a table. Come in, have a wander, let our team help you find somewhere lovely and settle in for the day.
5. Will there be bag searches?
As part of our liquor licence requirements for the event, we will have security at the entrance conducting bag searches as you come in. It is simply part of what we need to do to keep everyone safe and meet our licensing requirements for an event of this size.
Having your tickets ready and scannable on your phone, and your bags easy to access for security, will be a great help!
6. Can we still do a w**e tasting?
Absolutely!
Our Cellar Door will still be open for w**e tastings throughout the day, available on a first come, first served basis.
So while you’re here, pop in and taste your way through some Kies w**es — and maybe pick Dad up a bottle of his favourite w**e or port to take home for later!
It is Father’s Day after all.
7. What’s happening during the day?
LOTS!
Joe Ahern will be playing live from 11am–2pm, followed by The Cutters from 2pm–5pm.
And we need to say a HUGE thank you to Nitschke Chaff and Freight, who have very kindly lent us a stage for the event so everyone will actually be able to see our wonderful musicians performing throughout the day!
We are so, so grateful for their generosity and support in helping us make the day that little bit more special.
We’ll also have the Nexus Edge Footy Clinic, Challenger Golf, croquet and soft play, plus our Father’s Day food, Kies w**es, cocktails, b**r, coffee and plenty more happening around the grounds.
8. Can we bring our own food and drinks?
No BYO food or alcohol please.
There will be plenty of food and drinks available to purchase throughout the event.
9. What about parking?
We will have our team helping with parking on the day, so please just follow their directions or signage when you arrive.
10. How is this all going to work?
There is a LOT happening behind the scenes - as per usual at our place lol 😂
We run big days like this regularly and have welcomed thousands of people through the gates during events like Gather Round, so our team is very used to making days like this happen.
We want Sunday to feel less like you’ve simply arrived at the w**ery on a busy Sunday and more like you’re coming to a proper little Father’s Day festival in the Barossa, so you can actually relax.
So I am putting together a full Father’s Day Festival Guide for you before Sunday.
It will have a map of the grounds, where to order your food, w**e, b**r, cocktails and coffee, where all the kids’ activities are, Footy Clinic times, the live music schedule, toilets, seating areas and basically everything you need to know.
You’ll be able to have a look before you arrive, get your bearings and know exactly what’s happening throughout the day. Ticket holders watch your email this week 😉
And finally, we just want to say thank you.
600 of you have chosen to spend Father’s Day with us, with another 100 people currently on the waiting list.
We are just so, so humbled that you have trusted our family to be part of such a special day with yours.
We know Father’s Day is one of those days where you could choose to be anywhere, and the fact that so many of you have chosen to spend it here at Kies means an enormous amount to us.
We have put so much thought into Sunday and we cannot wait to welcome you, pour you a w**e, feed you, entertain the kids, play you some great music and hopefully give your family a really beautiful Father’s Day together in the Barossa.
Thank you for trusting us with your day.
We’ll see you Sunday. ❤️
