Well you guys are so kind to have voted for me... Thank you so much πβ€οΈ
Last night I was awarded Event Manager of the Year, for our Gather in the Barossa events and really I can't even believe it. π
I'm so grateful to you guys for so many things....
..For helping me with advice and feedback in the lead up to Gather Round - it's not every day an AFL oval is built across the road and it was so helpful to understand what everyone needed from us at that time...
..For getting behind us - I know the oval is controversial. I get it, but as I saw it we had 2 choices, close due to road closures or go all in, and just the early ticket sales helped me sleep at night to be honest so thanks for getting behind us, even as we were still figuring it all out...
..For the people I work with. You know how sometimes the universe just sends you the right people at the right time, well our team are full of them. Honestly I am having a tear thinking about all the hard work from so many people who helped us to pull this off.
A huge thanks to my partner in crime Nat Munns, for accommodating my "Now, hear me out" conversations, for her neat writing and organised spreadsheets and for working so so so hard to get this off the ground. An amazing human being - so grateful beyond words! πβ€οΈ
And I would like to dedicate this award to my beautiful parents...
I remember standing outside trying to imagine what Gather Round would look like at our place, and panicking as the invoices were piling up.
Worrying that people would just park at our place and walk across the road.
And my Dad put his hand on my shoulder and said "Act boldly and unforeseen forces will come to your aid"... I didn't believe him at the time, but he was right... Again! π€£
Dad spent the weekend driving around and getting extra food and drinks when we ran out. Mum ran all the high teas in the barrel hall - just a massive support π β€οΈ
They have worked so hard their entire lives, always zigging when everyone else is zagging and I am so grateful for their entrepreneurial spirit, which I hope I can carry onto my kids as they grow.
Anyways I'm rambling again - and I'm sure I've missed people but thanks for all the support guys! Appreciate all of you πβ€οΈ
