**PLEASE READ BEFORE PLACING AN ORDER**
Thank you for choosing Fluffy Butt Farms – Hunter Valley! We want every chicken to go to a happy, prepared home, so we’ve put together this guide to make the buying and collection process as easy as possible.
🐔 1. CHOOSING YOUR CHICKENS
We offer a range of poultry depending on availability, including laying hens, pullets and meat birds.
Birds are sold subject to availability and may vary in age, breed, colour and size.
If you’re unsure which birds are best suited to your situation, please ask us. We’re happy to help you choose.
💰 2. DEPOSITS & SECURING YOUR ORDER
A 50% deposit is required to secure and hold your order.
**IMPORTANT:**
• Birds are not reserved until your deposit has been received.
• Deposits are non-refundable for change of mind, cancellation or failure to collect.
• The remaining 50% balance is payable at collection, unless otherwise agreed.
• Deposits are not automatically transferable to another order or customer.
Our deposit policy was introduced because we previously had many customers ask us to hold chickens and then fail to collect them. This prevented us from offering those birds to other genuine customers while we continued to care for them.

📅 3. COLLECTION
Your collection date and time will be arranged with you when your order is confirmed.
Please make every effort to collect your chickens at the agreed time.
If something unexpected happens and you cannot make your collection time, please contact us as soon as possible.
Failure to collect an order without communication may result in the deposit being forfeited and the birds being offered for sale to another customer.
🚗 4. BRINGING YOUR CHICKENS HOME
Please arrive prepared with a safe and suitable method of transport.
For chickens, we recommend:
🐔 A secure pet carrier or suitable poultry crate
🐔 Adequate ventilation
🐔 Protection from direct sun, rain and extreme temperatures
🐔 Enough space for the birds to stand and move comfortably
🐔 A clean, secure vehicle environment
Please do not transport chickens loose in the back of a vehicle or unsecured in a boot.
For longer journeys, please consider temperature, ventilation and the welfare of the birds throughout the trip.
🏡 5. BEFORE YOUR CHICKENS ARRIVE
Please have everything ready before collection day.
Your chickens will need:
🏠 A secure coop or shelter
🌾 Appropriate chicken feed
💧 Clean, fresh water
🥚 Nesting areas for laying hens
🪵 Suitable perches
🔒 Predator-proof fencing or enclosure
🌧️ Protection from weather
🌙 A safe place to sleep at night
Please make sure your enclosure is secure from dogs, foxes and other predators.
🌱 6. SETTLING YOUR NEW CHICKENS IN
When you bring your chickens home, give them time to settle into their new surroundings.
We recommend initially keeping new chickens safely contained in their coop/run so they can learn where their food, water and sleeping area are.
It is normal for chickens to take a little time to settle after transport and a change of environment.
Always ensure they have access to fresh water, appropriate feed and a safe shelter.
🐔 7. INTRODUCING NEW CHICKENS TO AN EXISTING FLOCK
If you already have chickens, introductions should be done carefully.
New birds may need to be kept separate initially and introduced gradually to reduce stress, fighting and the risk of spreading illness.
Never assume that a new chicken will immediately be accepted by your existing flock.
❤️ 8. CHICKEN WELFARE
Our birds are living animals and should be treated with care and respect.
Please make sure you are prepared for the ongoing commitment of keeping chickens before placing an order.
Chickens require daily care, appropriate housing, food, water and protection from predators.
If you have any questions about caring for your new birds, please ask us before purchasing. We would much rather help you prepare than have you discover afterwards that chickens aren't suitable for your situation.
