Tasted today with current Winbirra (Heartbreak Grape) participants.
There would be few Australian Pinot Noirs that would look as good as this does at 12 years old.
And a tasting of the 2024 vintage confirmed this is a great vineyard.

My first tasting of malagousia. From . Lovely, rich yet refreshing wine with citrus and quince flavours.
Cooked an old favourite, baked whole snapper.

Visiting yesterday and today. Getting some lessons in (soft) pruning.
Also an opportunity to share and taste some lovely wines.

Almost the end for Heartbreak Grape, Dromana for the class of 2024-2025.
Wine is in the barrels. Looking/tasting great.
Back at the end of 2025 for bottling.

The crew has arrived for Dromana Vintage 2025. Pinot Noir picked at 12.8 baume. Good acid, colour and flavour.

I spent yesterday bottling my 2023 Heathcote Shiraz.
Thanks to the team at Red Edge, particularly Will.
Looking forward to retasting this wine after some more time in the bottle.
To be released in the second half of 2025.

On Friday 29th Novemember a select few Heartbreak Grape participants attended a "surprise" lunch for Peter Mitchell's 80th birthday. Peter established and continues to run both of the Heartbreak Grape Courses on Mornington Peninsula. Lunch was at Bistro Thierry a traditional bistro in Malvern Road, Toorak. Wonderful entrees, snails, steak tartare (excellent by all accounts), and superb mussels, shared. Mains of Duck for many, excellent, served with frites and witlof salad....

October 2024, some Pinot Noir and Peking Duck at Chine on Paramount in Melbourne. Just 5 attendees and 5 Pinot Noir Wines served blind. I would have hope for more from the 2011 Vosne-Romanée, 1 er Cru 2011, Les Beaux Monts. (especially given it's price). But what a great opportunity to taste a wine from this famous and highly regarded producer....
