We had another excellent show!

Thanks to everybody who entered the horticulture section.

Trish and I have a great time in the flower shed each year, along with our wonderful judge Brenda White.

It’s been another difficult season for our gardeners, so we were down on exhibits, especially roses, but the w**d arrangements are going strong!

We look forward to adding a few new additions to the schedule next year. And if you have any suggestions, please get in touch.

I’m so grateful for my lovely Gator today!

I’m going to be very busy stripping the gum and bottle brush he brought home this weekend.

I don’t usually use natives in my arrangements as I haven’t had the space to grow them, but I’m looking forward to a challenge this week.

We’re decorating the horticulture shed at in this year’s pavilion theme of native flora and fauna, maybe with a little Bridgerton touch as well, because we have lots of pretty faux florals to use.

If you have anything in your garden that’s thriving (I know it’s been a difficult season for all of us) please enter it in our section!

We’d love to have a full flower shed this year.

And if anybody needs mesh bags to keep roses safe from bugs this week, please let me know. I have heaps!
I plan to bag a lot of buds today!

Our back gardens. šŸ˜

I’m so proud of these beds because they’re mostly filled with plants grown from cuttings.
I plan to divide a lot more chrysanthemums, lambs ear, sedum and seaside daisy this year as the base for the beds in the backyard extension, but they’ll also have some beautiful feature trees.
The star jasmine is exploding with growth, so training all of them around posts will be on my list for my long service leave soon. I just need to repaint all of the posts monument first!
I was a bit worried about the plants being too crowded, but I hate w**ding, so this works for me! And the smaller bushes give the big ones like salvia and chrysanthemums support.
My favourite addition to the garden each year is the Little Ruby that I have to buy in. It just doesn’t handle the frosts here. But I think I bought six pots last year and ended up with about 20 plants, so it’s a worthwhile purchase to add some coloured foliage to the garden.

Some lovely big bunches to end the week.

I’d forgotten how tiring it was to have orders every day, but we’ve had a lot of fun putting arrangements together.

I have a lot of tidying up to do in the garden now, along with fertilising, mulching, training the star jasmine, summer pruning the roses and prepping for spring seed starting. Maeve and I will have two big days in the garden!

My ranunculus order arrived this week, so we’re also working out where they’re going to go in the new flower farm. I’m so excited for spring flowers already!

Thanks to everybody who supported our little farm this week. It’s been wonderful sharing our blooms. 🌸

The garden is loving this rain!

We’re so happy the garden pulled through the heatwave, with only two losses - shade plants that were in part shade and just couldn’t hack the heat.

When we designed this garden we knew it’d have to be a lot of hardy plants, because the cut flowers get all of the attention here!

We’ll have our first big harvest of 2026 for this week, in time for Valentine’s Day, so please put your orders in with Erin if you want to get some of our locally-grown flowers.

We’ll also be doing our own Valentine’s Day bunches (Manilla only) so please place your orders by Thursday afternoon.

Our flowers lately. 🌸

It’s been a slow start to the year with the heatwave, and the dahlias have not liked it at all!

We’ve still been doing a few bunches focusing on our gorgeous zinnias, feverfew and cosmos. Hopefully we have dahlias very soon!

I’ve had a few customers reach out wanting red roses for Valentine’s Day, and no, I don’t have any as I only work with my own flowers.

However, if you’d like to send a gorgeous mixed bunch of locally grown flowers, please DM, call or text me.

Delivery is available in Manilla only, and you’re welcome to pick up on the day, or the Friday afternoon. 🌸

Today’s orders - business deliveries, a vase for a friend and Maeve’s vases, because of course a three-year-old needs flowers in her room!

We’ll be using a lot more zinnias, cosmos and roses in our arrangements now that the lisianthus has finished.

The dahlias are blooming, but not well. They’ve been more temperamental than usual and I’ve started culling plants already. Anything that has a downward facing bloom, poor attachment or flimsy stem is going.
I’m ripping the plants out as soon as I see an issue so that I don’t feel obligated to dig, divide and replant them again.
Given their poor performance this year, I’m considering growing only a few dahlias next year. It’ll be much more cost effective, and some varieties are just not worth the workload and inputs.

The whole garden is getting a big tidy up today. I’ve spent the morning w**ding the block and we’re turning over the lissies bed to plant basil, carrots and radishes.
The chrysanthemums will get their big cutback so they’re right to bloom for Mother’s Day, and the roses are getting deadheaded too. This year I’m deadheading them every week so I have less work when I’m harvesting for bunches.

Some of my favourite arrangements of the year, for local mums who are such lovely people.

The book vase was so easy to arrange! The vase was supplied by the customer and I just filled it with Best Friend and Earth Angel roses and some gorgeous lisianthus and pittosporum. I often do this for customers, so if you have a lovely vase you’d like me to fill, just drop it in a day earlier and I’ll just charge based on the size of the vase.

I also got to use my first hydrangea paniculata blooms, and since arranging this vase I’ve found space for another 10 or so plants. It’s a beautiful variety which can be grown as an outdoor crop, so it should handle the heat and sun here.
Paniculatas will be a feature plant for our new garden beds in the backyard extension, along with black tulip magnolias, cloud-pruned crepe myrtles, and of course, another ornamental pear, to tie in with our current backyard.
My goal is to make it look seamless, as if it was always one huge backyard. I’m very excited to design those spaces - we’re starting on them today!

I also used ots of Princess Charlene de Monaco roses in the two big vases. She’s my favourite rose, by far. Exceptional stem length, beautiful fragrance, and a lovely creamy blush colour that works well in any arrangement.

Please reach out if you need some lovely locally-grown blooms. The dahlias are just starting but it won’t be long before they’re taking off. We also have cosmos, celosia and zinnias forming buds so we’ll be harvesting them soon.

I’ll share a few more pics of what’s growing in the garden this week. 🌸

We’ve had a big few weeks working with and enjoying these gorgeous lisianthus blooms!

I was on the fence about these but now I think I need to grow them every year.

I have quite a few available, so I’ll have market bunches available for the next week or so.

DM to order 🌸

On this day last year Gator knocked down the building on the block.

It’s hard to believe that it’s only been gone 12 months! We’ve slowly developed the space, adding a fence and hedge, and irrigation to all the garden beds.

And there’s still a lot to be done, with gravel (hopefully we can get that soonšŸ¤ž), front and back fences on the block, pergolas, arbours and turf.

We love our new little flower farm and hopefully we can finish it in the next 12 months and start to host workshops next Christmas. šŸ¤žšŸ˜

Thank you to everybody who has ordered our baubles!

I’m so glad we made these - they’re the perfect addition to our tree, and we love sharing them with others.

We still have five packs of baubles left after filling our second lot last night. I’m happy to paint the tops gold too, if silver doesn’t work for your Christmas colours!

$30 for a pack of 6. DM, call or text to order. 🌸🌸🌸
