IMPORTANT UPDATE

Truffle Kerfuffle confirms 2026 pause, announces fundraising event and pathway toward 2027.

The Truffle Kerfuffle Board today confirmed that the flagship Truffle Kerfuffle festival will not proceed in 2026, announcing instead a dedicated fundraising event designed to sustain the brand, support its community, and enable a confident relaunch in 2027.

This decision follows an extensive year-long review process, including stakeholder consultation, market testing, and the development of a long-term event strategy focused on financial sustainability, governance, and brand stewardship. The Board acknowledges that this news will be disappointing for many and thanks the Truffle Kerfuffle community for its understanding and patience.

“Truffle Kerfuffle has always been bigger than a single weekend,” said Ms Jean-Rice, Truffle Kerfuffle Board Chairperson. “It is a celebration of our region, our producers, and our community. Pausing in 2026 allows us to reset responsibly, protect what makes the event special, and work toward a strong and sustainable return in 2027.”

A STRATEGIC PAUSE

Consultation with sponsors, producers, tourism partners, and the wider community reaffirmed the deep value of Truffle Kerfuffle as a flagship winter event for the South West. At the same time, it highlighted the need for a more stable delivery model and longer lead times to secure funding and partnerships.

Given current timing and funding cycles, delivering a full-scale event in 2026 was assessed as carrying unacceptable risk. Stakeholders consistently supported a deliberate pause rather than proceeding under pressure.

The Board has therefore chosen a responsible and future-focused approach: stepping back from the 2026 festival while actively investing in the event’s next chapter.

2026 FUNDRAISING EVENT TO KEEP THE COMMUNITY CONNECTED-

In place of the full festival, Truffle Kerfuffle will deliver a curated fundraising event in 2026. This experience will:
- Celebrate the Truffle Kerfuffle spirit and community
- Showcase regional producers and culinary excellence
- Maintain brand presence and audience engagement
- Direct funds toward early planning, partnerships, and delivery readiness for 2027

Watch this space - further details will be announced in the very near future.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2027

With early planning underway, the Board is working toward the opportunity for a Truffle Kerfuffle relaunch in 2027. This extended lead time enables stronger partnerships, funding certainty, and an event model that supports producers, sponsors, and the broader region for the long term.

“Our sponsors, producers, and community have been clear thatTruffle Kerfuffle matters,” Board Chairperson Ms Jean-Rice said. “This pause gives us the space to do it properly, together, and to return with confidence.”

The Board thanked sponsors, producers, volunteers, and supporters for their ongoing support, understanding, and patience as Truffle Kerfuffle enters this next phase.

Refreshed Truffle Kerfuffle Board looks to 2026.

Three new board members join Truffle Kerfuffle Inc, the not-for-profit community organisation that owns Australia’s beloved food festival, Truffle Kerfuffle.

Since its creation in 2010, Truffle Kerfuffle has evolved into the ultimate winter getaway, a weekend-long food and wine festival in the heart of Australian truffle country in Manjimup, Western Australia.

Geoff Davies, owner of Dunsborough Cellars, Ryan McKelvie, partner of Supper Road, and Trevor Cochrane, managing director of Guru Productions join Julia Meldrum who has been appointed as chair of the board, Jeremy Beissel who has stepped down from chair to vice chair, along with five other local board members.

Truffle Kerfuffle was created with the aim of bringing together the truffle industry, farmers, producers, wineries and the community to highlight the region’s extraordinary agricultural industry, exceptional produce, tourism experiences, unique forests, landscapes and developing business opportunities.

Truffle Kerfuffle’s drawcard was the exotic and prolific tuber melanosporum, the prized black truffle. The Southern Forests region produces 85 per cent of Australia’s premium black truffles.

“This year will be a period of transformation and is an opportunity for us to listen to our stakeholders, explore new ideas, and innovate the Truffle Kerfuffle experience,” Ms Meldrum said.

“The board has carefully considered many factors and has made the tough but right decision to look ahead to 2026 to run the next Truffle Kerfuffle festival.
