Tree dispatch day. Exciting to think these trees will be producing the truffles of the future. They have been hardening up outside for a month. They will be sorted for our various customers. The first pick up is scheduled for tommorow. This year all Quercus robor and Quercus ilex. Both favoured for truffle production in Australia.

Truffles come in all sizes and shapes. Every paddock produces differences. The Terroir inflences the truffle. Such is the allure of the truffle. The season this year is almost over. Hunting results in less each week. We can soon begin pruning and preparation for next harvest. The Farmers life moves through the seasons. I am indeed fortunate to experience such a life.

Just a little of the truffle coming into the grading room today. Grading is next, then packing, but I can see a good amount of Premium Grade in there. Tuber Melanosporum grows really well here in South West Australia. The journey to success in truffle farming is long, but rewarding.

One lucky lambie. Lambie had fallen down a hole in the paddock and couldnt get out. Lambies Mum was upset but she couldnt help. On the daily check of the farm, Sofia and I noticed Lambies Mum acting strange. A helping hand from Riccardo reunited the grateful family.

Okay. Its a big year and a big, big truffle. This trufferie is a new producer as well. Planted 2020. This is the biggest melanosporum I have seen. Once we clean it up we will see how it turns out. At this stage, impressive.

These are special. Special. This is the first hunt from 2000 trees that we inoculated 4 years ago. 12 kilos. This grower found their first truffle last year at 3 years old. Still have the rest of the season to go. Nice shape, minimal insect damage, potential future yield... a little scary. This is what its all about. Helping growers become succesful in this demanding industry. I would like to see our world record yield level broken, maybe this is the grower to finally do it.
