LAUGHING JACK WINES... is family owned and operated by winemaker Shawn Kalleske alongside parents Ian and Carol and brothers Nathan and Damon. The Kalleske family have been working the property since 1855, situated near the hamlet of Greenock, a small town in the famous Barossa Valley and home to some of Australia's greatest shiraz wines. Laughing Jack represents the resident kookaburras found in the majestic Blue and Red Gum trees, that stand tall surrounding the family vineyards!

We’re absolutely wrapped to share that Laughing Jack Wines has placed 6th in the Halliday People’s Choice Award for Best Winery Experience!

And the best part? That makes three years in a row that we’ve been in the Top 10!

This one really means a lot to us. Because behind every vote is someone who has visited our Cellar Door, shared a bottle with friends, brought family along, told someone about us, or simply taken the time to support what we do.

When we asked for your help, you showed up for us — and we’re incredibly grateful.

A little bit of the Barossa in South-East Queensland!

We’re excited to be sending our cousin Kirsten to represent Laughing Jack Wines at the Back to Barossa roadshow-style tasting events this September.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to taste your way through the best of Australia’s greatest wine region, with a plethora of boutique wineries coming together to showcase their wines and share their stories.

Kirsten will be there (for 3 out of 4 of the events) representing Laughing Jack, pouring our wines, sharing a little of our family story, and having a chat about all things Barossa.

Perth, we’re coming your way!

Our winemaker Shawn Kalleske is heading to Perth for a very special weekend of tastings at La Vigna Cellars.

Come along and join Shawn as he takes you through an outstanding line-up of Laughing Jack wines, sharing the stories, characters and winemaking behind each bottle.

And for the Shiraz lovers… there’ll be an opportunity to taste the acclaimed 2022 Carl Albert Single Vineyard Shiraz, awarded 95 Points by Halliday Wine Companion.

It’s a great chance to meet the winemaker, taste some of our wines and have a chat about all things Laughing Jack.

A little winter comfort awaits…

With a cool and wet weekend ahead, there’s no better time to slow down, rug up, and enjoy a cosy visit to our Cellar Door.

Our fire will be glowing, the wine will be pouring, and we’ll be here ready to welcome you in for a chat, a tasting, and a relaxing winter afternoon.

Sometimes the cooler days are the perfect excuse to get out and enjoy a little wine country warmth.

It seems our 2024 GSM has been winning plenty of hearts lately…

Our **2024 GSM** has been our most popular wine by sales through the Cellar Door during the month of July, and we can see why!

A beautiful blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre, it’s a wine that brings together everything we love — generous fruit, lovely balance, and plenty of character.

We’ve loved chatting with everyone who has taken a bottle (or two!) home recently and hearing how much you’re enjoying it.

A little glimpse behind the scenes at Laughing Jack

There’s always something happening here — from welcoming visitors through our Cellar Door, looking after the vines, preparing orders, and everything in between.

While the finished bottle is what makes it to your table, it’s the people, the conversations, and the little moments along the way that make this place special.

We’re lucky to have such a wonderful team and such amazing people who stop by to share a wine and a story with us.

Even wine families need a little time away!

We’re taking advantage of the last week of the school holidays for a short break, which means our Cellar Door will be closed on Friday 17 July.

Don’t worry — we’ll be back to normal from Saturday 18 July 10am-4pm, ready to welcome you in for your favourite wines and a friendly catch-up.

This month we’re celebrating three wonderful members of our team — happy birthday to Kirsty, Noleen and Briony! 🥂
