Over 2 weekends, we have harvested over 492kg of honey,. I reckon there’s another 80kg to bottle (and find storage for!). Oh and that’s not counting about 20kg of honeycomb as well!

Why does my honey go grainy?

This photo is from our current batch of honey, harvested earlier this year. It is not old or “off”. If fact, raw honey, with no additives will never go off.

Honey reacts to the weather, and as winter approaches, the honey crystallises. Coconut oil has a similar reaction where it hardens or liquifies according to the outdoor temp.

All you need to do to restore your honey to its liquidy goodness is gently heat it by placing the container in a bowl of hot water. It is also perfectly safe to eat it while it’s grainy or crystallised.

Raw honey has no additives to keep it runny. If your honey crystallises, it’s the real deal.
