Meet Brydie. 👋

This is her a little while back as a weaner — number 143, and even then completely convinced the camera was there for her. She’s grown into a fine young heifer since, but the attitude hasn’t changed a bit.

Our Speckled Park girls all have their own markings and their own personalities. Brydie’s is best described as “front of the queue.”

Born and raised here at Baribun, Maryvale — high country on the Darling Downs.

That woodpile behind the fire? Ironbark, box and red gum — all dead standing timber off our own paddocks, dry as a bone before it ever meets the splitter. It burns hot, clean and slow, the way good firewood should. We’ve been wondering whether Brisbane could use some of it next winter, delivered on the same run as the beef. So tell us — would a load of proper Baribun firewood earn a place by your fire? 🔥

Someone’s decided the camera is worth investigating.
This little one is one of our Speckled Park crossbreds, born and raised here on the Darling Downs at Maryvale. The light up here at the end of the day is something else — nearly 970m up, with the gums as strong as the mountains they grace.
Properly grass-fed, properly unhurried, and apparently very curious.

The view from the back of Baribun. This is the Darling Downs at its best — range after range stretching toward the horizon, and not a soul in sight.

It’s a long way from the supermarket. And that’s rather the point.
