THE MITOLO STORY
Frank’s father Bruno was born to an Italian viticulturist. He arrived in Australia aged 14, with farming in his blood. He brought with him an ethos from his homeland, the Abruzzo region – “forte e gentile” or strong and gentle. Bruno forged a new life in Australia establishing Mitolo Family Farms, a world class fresh produce business. From a young age Frank began working in the family business. Frank gained much from his father and grandfather – a passion for the land and wine, a love of Italian varieties, and the significance that the soil, location and microclimate contribute to the end product. Founded in 1999, Mitolo Wines' primary focus is on premium shiraz and cabernet sauvignon from southern McLaren Vale, in particular the sub-districts of Whites Valley and Sellicks Hill. The first Mitolo was produced in 2000 - the G.A.M. Shiraz, named after Frank’s children Gemma, Alex and Marco. Alongside the foundation wines, Mitolo produces small parcels of traditional Italian varieties well suited to McLaren Vale’s mediterranean climate - a natural expression of Frank’s Italian heritage.

Trovato means 'found'. Like all children of the house, there comes a time to explore new lands.

Now home in McLaren Vale, our Trovato Fiano is opulent and fleshy. Enjoy layered stone fruit and citrus flavours, balanced by a fine, long, fresh acidity.

Little Wolf Osteria — our restaurant in McLaren Vale — has been named a State Finalist in the 2026 South Australia Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence.

It's a wonderful reflection of the team, from the kitchen to the floor, and the care they bring to every service.

Congratulations to Little Wolf and all the finalists. We'll be celebrating with the hospitality industry in August.

Some seasons move quickly. Others ask for patience.

Vintage 2026 was a season of timing, attention and careful decision-making in the vineyard.

Cooler conditions, careful picking decisions and a slower finish have shaped w**es showing freshness, elegance and finer detail.

“Knowing our sites and vines was paramount to good decision making.”
Luke Mallaby, Winemaker

The first signs are promising. Delicate Rosé, lively Pecorino, textured Fiano and reds beginning their longer journey.
