Creating wines that reflect our sense of place and our way of life is what we do best. We love the unusual, celebrate provenance and encourage exploration by making wines that suit the food we make and the way we live. Our approach brings together decades of winemaking experience with growing insights, to create wines that offer a new way of thinking; inspiring a generation of winemakers that deli

ght in the different, trusting what the land can produce. Our wines tell the story of region and vineyard – the journey of Pannell Enoteca.

Nature doing what it does best.

There's something special about watching a season come together right on the vine; sun-ripened grapes, patiently grown.

A good reminder that great w**e starts long before it reaches a glass. Out here is where the real magic happens.

This Saturday 29th August, Stephen joins Anna Webster of Halliday W**e Companion, Amelia Nolan of Alkina, and Giles Cooke MW of Thistledown for the opening session of In Glass Conversations, a panel-led tasting exploring where Grenache sits in the modern w**e world.

For much of Australia's viticultural history, the variety earned its place through reliability rather than reverence, destined for fortified w**es or generous blends where its contribution was often essential, but rarely celebrated. The vineyards themselves, however, never changed – home to some of Australia's oldest bush vines, quietly waiting for a generation of growers and w**emakers prepared to ask different questions.

Today, Grenache sits at the centre of a global conversation – of vine age, of provenance and of possibility. Producers in McLaren Vale and the Barossa have shown that old vines can deliver w**es of remarkable perfume, finesse and longevity, while their counterparts in the Southern Rhône and Priorat continue to challenge preconceptions of what the variety can express.

Rather than converging on a single style, modern Grenache explores a diverse spectrum of profiles which many are only just now beginning to explore. Is Grenache's recent rise a reflection of changing tastes, changing w**emaking or have we simply learnt to value qualities that were always there?

Through ten benchmark w**es and the perspectives of our panel, we'll explore a variety whose reputation has never been more dynamic – or more deserving of debate.
Saturday 29 August, 2:00pm to 4:30pm
Olive Room, HYDE Melbourne Place

Golden hour over the vines. This is where it all begins.

Every S.C. Pannell bottle starts here, in the quiet before the sun sets on another day in the vineyard. It's why Stephen talks so much about the place; old vines, deep roots, and the ecosystem around them all shape what the fruit becomes.

"Centenarian Mataro vines now dedicated for rosé." Marcus Ellis on the 2025 Koomilya Mataro Rosé, awarded 96 points in the Halliday W**e Companion 2027.

He points to impeccable fruit from exemplary farming and precise picking, with the w**e showing orange and rose, pink grapefruit, blood orange, tart strawberries and white cherries — calling it seriously exciting by any metric.

— Marcus Ellis, Halliday W**e Companion
