On Saturday, we gathered at Aurora for another Black Sheep Let Loose. Five acts. Five courses. A room full of curious Black Sheep.

Across the afternoon, Mary shared stories of Richard, Anne and Hugh, weaving together family history, wine and the moments that have shaped Hugh Hamilton Wines. A few standout moments from the menu included the Snapper Tartare and Lamb Backstrap, both perfectly matched to the wines and the occasion.

Congratulations to Bruce Clark, who was the lucky winner of our Black Sheep prize on the day.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We never take for granted that people choose to spend their Saturday afternoon with us, and it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and new ones around the table.

Until next time, Adelaide. 🍷

Every bottle inside Hugh's Vintage Vault has something in common.

At one point, Hugh decided not to release it. Then, eventually, he changed his mind.

For a short time, a collection of back vintages, hidden cellar treasures and rare cellar releases is available once again.

The question is: Which bottle has been waiting for you?

It's not every day you get an endorsement straight from the source 🍷

On the 26th of May, Hugh attended Georgia's Independence Day celebrations at the Embassy of Georgia in Canberra, where he had the pleasure of presenting a bottle of The Oddball Saperavi to His Excellency Beka Dvali, Georgia's Ambassador to Australia.

For a wine made from one of Georgia's most treasured varieties, the Ambassador's enthusiasm felt especially meaningful.

As the History Festival draws to a close, we’ve loved seeing Mary watching over Adelaide from banners across the city these past few weeks. There’s something pretty special about seeing the Black Sheep spirit woven into South Australia’s storytelling and history. We’ll definitely miss spotting her on our travels soon… so if you’ve been meaning to see it for yourself, you’ve only got two more days left 🍷

There are roughly 5 million people in Ireland.

And somehow, two Australians wearing Hugh Hamilton Black Sheep beanies found each other there. What are the chances?

Peter emailed us after spotting another Black Sheep beanie at a remote lookout on the Ring of Kerry. Not at a wine event. Not in McLaren Vale. In Ireland. During the same 20-minute window.

Honestly, this may be the greatest beanie-related coincidence of all time. Proof that Black Sheep have a habit of finding each other. Even on the other side of the world.

We’re proud to share that Hugh Hamilton Wines has been named one of The Real Review Top Wineries of Australia for 2026.

Our wine is always a team effort, from the crew out in the vineyard and winery to the faces welcoming people through the Cellar Door each day. It’s built on hard work, good people, and a shared belief that wine should make people think while they sip.

Thank you to everyone who drinks our wines, visits the Cellar Door, joins the Black Sheep family, or simply tells a friend about us. We’re proud to represent McLaren Vale alongside so many incredible producers, and we’re excited for what’s still to come.

This May, we’re pouring something pretty special for History Festival.

A Pedro Ximenez that began its life in 1944, made from fruit grown in a vineyard that no longer exists. We call it Liquid History.

Rich, layered and full of caramel, spice and roasted nuts, but more than anything, it’s a reminder of how wine can carry stories forward long after places change.

Available as an $18 add-on to your Premium Tasting Experience throughout May.

Book your tasting via the link below and experience Liquid History while you can.

For a few days each year, the city leans into football. We took it somewhere else.

As part of Gather Round, we hosted Sydney Swans members here at the Cellar Door for a structured experience across the property. Not just a tasting, but a closer look at how we think about wine, from site to glass.

John Longmire, Michael O’Loughlin and Montana Ham joined us along the way. Different eras, same club. Good people to share a day like this with.

Guests moved through a series of stations, each one focused, intentional, and tied to a part of our story. Then back together at the end, where things relaxed and the conversation opened up.

We’d do it like that again.
