Glorious Grenache grapes at our Blind Spot Vineyard. Vintage 2026 is well underway and it’s always an exciting yet busy time all around the region. Nearly there.

Grenache at our Blind Spot Vineyard in Blewitt Springs, edging closer to harvest. Berries are colouring up beautifully, that dusty blue bloom giving way to deeper shades as ripening gathers pace. A few darker berries showing just how close we are.

These old bush vines have carried the warmth of summer well. Flavours are building, tannins are fine, and the balance is right where we like it. Now it’s a matter of patience, tasting, walking the rows, waiting for that moment when everything aligns.

Not long now until these bunches make their way from vine to fermenter, and the next chapter of Blind Spot Grenache begins.

We’re thrilled to see our winemaker Renae Hirsch recognised as a 2026 Advertiser/Sunday Mail SkyCity Woman of the Year finalist in the SkyCity Hospitality Hero category.

Renae’s talent and quiet determination were celebrated nationally last year when the Willunga 100 2023 McLaren Vale Grenache took out the Prime Minister’s Trophy at the National Wine Show of Australia, a milestone that speaks to her feel for Grenache and the places it comes from.

Renae plays a pivotal role in shaping the character and direction of Willunga 100, working closely with our growers to make wines that are site-led, expressive and true to vineyard. It’s a privilege to work alongside someone so incredibly talented, and dedicated to her craft.

Yesterday we checked in on our Blind Spot vineyard in Blewitt Springs to see how vintage is tracking.
Even after a couple of heatwaves, the Grenache old bush vines are looking seriously good, healthy canopy, clean fruit, and everything holding up beautifully. Veraison (that magic moment when the berries start turning purple) is still a little way off, but it’s not far now. With the forecast set to climb, our vineyard team will be keeping a keen eye on the vines in the build up to Vintage 2026 🍇

If you haven’t tried our 2025 Grenache Blanc yet, you really should. It’s the kind of wine made for long lunches, warm evenings and everything we love about summer.

Marcus Ellis from the Halliday Wine Companion awarded it 93+ points, praising its “thrilling acid drive, vividly fresh fruit and whisper of salinity… textural, pithy and resolutely fresh.” It was also awarded a Gold Medal at the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show.

Some summer days at our Willunga 100 Blind Spot Vineyard in Blewitt Springs looks like a painting!

Planted in the 1960’s, these old bush vine Grenache vines have seen a lot. They’re tough, low-yielding and deeply rooted in Blewitt Springs’ sandy soils, shaped by coastal breezes and long, warm summers. It’s the vineyard that defines Willunga 100, a place where Grenache is shaped by site, season and time, with nothing forced and nothing added.
