PHỞ 34 - Taste of home - in Pho’s Day Festival 13-14/12
—————————————————
In Vietnam, the annual “Pho Day” Festival is taking place — a special celebration held once a year to honor phở, the signature dish and cultural symbol of our country.
Over the past few days, even though the Phở 34 team has been incredibly busy preparing for our restaurant opening, the moment we received the official invitation from the 2025 Pho Day organizers, we immediately rearranged our schedules and booked urgent flights back to Vietnam to attend.
Pho Day is a vibrant culinary event held on Nguyễn Huệ Street in Saigon, where thousands of bowls of phở—each with its own unique flavor—gather from every region of Vietnam.
Within the rich tapestry of Vietnamese cuisine, few dishes have reached the level of becoming an icon, encapsulating memories, flavors, and cultural identity the way phở does. Simple yet refined, humble yet elegant, phở has transcended the boundaries of food to become a true “cultural ambassador” of Vietnam.
Through generations, phở has not only been a part of daily life but also a deeply rooted culinary memory for the people of Hanoi. No matter where you go, Hanoi-style phở remains unmistakably unique. It is gentle, understated, and harmonious—just like the refined spirit of the Tràng An people.
Opening an authentic Hanoi-style phở restaurant overseas is no easy task. Beyond the meticulous care required to simmer the broth properly, sourcing the right ingredients—just like those at home—is a real challenge for Vietnamese living abroad.
But at Phở 34, we are confident that we have achieved this through passion, dedication, and our desire to bring the true flavors of Vietnam all the way to Australia.
And today, although our restaurant has not yet officially opened, it is an honor for Phở 34 to be recognized as one of the eateries carrying the essence of Hanoi from Melbourne back to Vietnam in the 2025 Pho Day celebration.
Thank you to the organizing committee for believing in and appreciating Phở 34.
Thank you, Pho Day Festival, for connecting our little Phở 34 in faraway Australia with our homeland—despite being half a world apart.
Our journey ahead is still long…
But Phở 34 will continue striving to bring the flavors of Hanoi even further, introducing the culinary spirit of the capital—especially phở, the soul of Vietnamese cuisine—to friends across the globe.
Thank you all for listening and for following our journey. ❤️
