🐮A Modern Dairy Future 🐮

After more than 25 years in dairy farming, Burra Supply Partner Alastair Grant is embracing new technology to help future-proof his farm.

Recently, Alastair made the move from a rotary dairy to three Lely Astronaut A5 milking robots, a decision driven by a desire to invest in the future of the business and create more flexibility in day-to-day farm life. 🤠

Unlike a traditional dairy, the Lely A5 allows cows to choose when they want to be milked. The system also provides detailed information on individual cows, helping farmers monitor milk production, animal health and herd performance. 👏

For Alastair, the transition has been about more than technology.

It's about creating a farming system that supports animal wellbeing, improves efficiency and helps ensure the business is well positioned for the future. 🐄

Innovation has always played an important role in Australian dairy farming, and it's great to see Gippsland farmers continuing to explore new ways of improving productivity while maintaining the high standards of animal care our industry is known for. 👊🙌

🐄At this time of year, there's a good chance you'll spot plenty of newborn calves around Gippsland. 🐄

The birth of a calf signals the start of a new dairy season and marks the beginning of an important journey for both the calf and the farm.

For the first few days after calving, cows produce colostrum, a special milk naturally rich in antibodies that helps protect newborn calves while their own immune systems are still developing.

That's why getting enough quality colostrum into a calf soon after birth is one of the most important jobs dairy farmers focus on during calving season.

It's just one of the many ways farming families help give calves the strongest possible start to life.

🚀 HOW HIGH CAN SHE GO? 🚀

News Just in!

Let's go to the Internationales Hochsprungmeeting in Helibronn Germany, where Eleanor Patterson 🇦🇺 has jumped to equal her Personal Best (PB) of 2.02m to win the women's High Jump.

She beat Yaroslava Mahuchikh 🇺🇦 who jumped 2.00m to finish 2nd, followed by Lamara Distin 🇯🇲 with 1.98m (SB) for 3rd.

We know everyone in South Gippy will join us in extending our congratulations to you Eleanor - what an incredible achievement!
