🍌 Banoffee is back again for Mother’s Day!

It’s a flavour we used to do every year for Mother’s Day during our home baking days, and we are bringing it back this weekend because mums deserve the best 😘

This time we have made it into our cutest 5” size, perfect for a family of 4 to share 💕

A creamy banana basque cheesecake made with ripe banana at the base, topped with a layer of vanilla mascarpone cream. Slice into it to find chunks of fresh banana and dulce de leche that ooze through the centre😏 Finished with dark chocolate shavings and roasted pecans for a bit of crunch 🤤

Available for pickup on 9 May (Saturday) and 10 May (Sunday) only

Pre orders now open on our website until Friday, or until sold out.

NOT available for walk ins, so best to order early!

A rich dark chocolate Basque cheesecake base, topped with orange infused, lightly spiced mascarpone cream folded with sultanas and finished with a dusting of cocoa powder.

On 27 March 2025, Betterburnt opened its doors on Glenferrie Road after four and a half years of home baking that began during the Covid lockdown.

From one person to a small team, we have now officially made it through our first year and a full cycle of seasons in this little shop 🎉

When we first opened, we really did not know what to expect. There were days when everything completely sold out and we felt overwhelmed with gratitude. But there were also quiet days, and times when things went wrong in the kitchen, when the wastage broke our hearts.

It has been a year of adapting and adjusting, understanding our customers and the rhythm of the business, and learning from mistakes along the way. Every day, we hope to do a little better.

To everyone who visited us over the past year, thank you. Thank you for supporting a small business, for understanding the limitations of our little shop, and for all your lovely feedback and 5 star reviews.

Thank you for telling your friends about us and for sharing Betterburnt with your families and loved ones. We are truly grateful to have been part of your sweetest moments🤎

Here’s our take on a hot cross bun for Easter.

A rich, dark chocolate Basque cheesecake made with Callebaut Belgian chocolate, topped with a lightly spiced mascarpone cream with orange blossom, orange zest and sultanas.

Our best selling Basque cheesecake. Creamy, smooth and caramelised on top. If you want the pure Basque cheesecake experience, this is the one.

Yuzu
Bright Japanese citrus with a clean, tangy finish. A refreshing contrast to the richness of the cheesecake.

Pistachio

1. Is your cheesecake cooked properly? The middle looks undercooked.

That soft centre is exactly how Basque cheesecakes are meant to be. Creamy in the middle 🤤 They are fully baked, just not firm like a classic cheesecake.

We only use pasteurised ingredients, including eggs, so there is absolutely nothing to worry about 😊

2. Do you always have every flavour available by the slice?

We offer a rotating selection of flavours by the slice daily, with Original (our best seller!) always available.

There is no fixed flavour schedule because our production depends on whole cake pre-orders. If you are planning a visit, you can check our Instagram story to see what’s available that day.

3. How long do the cakes last?

Slices are best enjoyed within one day for maximum freshness.

Whole uncut cakes can be stored in the fridge for up to three days. Once cut, it’s important to cover the cake properly so it doesnt dry out or absorb fridge smell.

4. Can I pre-order slices?

We don’t take slice pre orders, only whole cakes can be pre-ordered through our website.

Slice flavours rotate daily and are baked in small batches. Some flavours sell out faster than others and we can never predict demand, so we always recommend visiting earlier in the day for the best selection☀️

5. How far in advance should I place an order?

Whole cake pre orders require at least 2 days notice and can be placed up to 1 month in advance.

Pre ordering lets you choose any flavour and any size. Especially for cakes with toppings, please pre-order as everything is made fresh to order.

If you missed the cut-off you are still welcome to walk in and see what whole cakes are available, but flavours may be limited.

If you are after a specific flavour, we strongly recommend ordering through our website in advance to avoid disappointment.
