Yarra Falls

Yarra Falls Evening spot in heart of the city, telling a story of local talent in food, refreshments, music and culture. Come for the snacks; stay for the good times.

We want to tell a story of people and land along the river known as the Yarra. Be that in the food on your plate, the wine in your glass or the music overheard, we're majority sourcing from as local as possible, and from the best from the world where we cannot. Where the river meets the sea, we'll change with the seasons of this part of the country. Our venue is on the land of the Wurundjeri Woiwu

rrung, of the Kulin Nation: it always was and always will be. We pay thanks and respect to their elders past, present and emerging.

Times are tough, so here at Yarra Falls we need to let you know that we will will NOT be raising prices.

‘But how can this be?’, you cry in surprise + delight.

We have always worked to bring you local, Victorian + Australian producers that align with our values + high standards. Our independent suppliers help us lock in great value without compromising on quality.

‘Amazing. Where does the Irish whiskey come into it though?’

Ah, well, Bushmills is the home whiskey of one go our owners, so this is their part of the story…plus Black Bush slaps.

Good times, great drinks, cool tunes and hot bread, under the waterfall.

Interest in bush foods is booming but some say a lack of Indigenous leadership and ‘black cladding’ plague the business

C O A S T E R 2.0

We have tried to stay close to the land since Day 1. Whether that is using native timbers to build the bar, hero-ing sustainable local producers or working to the traditional seasons of the Eastern Kulin.

The team have collaborated to produce the second iteration of house-made drinks coaster using traditional materials of beeswax and gutyamul/paperbark.

Drop by, perhaps enjoy our new Delmonico cocktail utilising native fig and enjoy the experience. You cannot get it anywhere else.

We thank the traditional owners of the land along Birrarung for preserving and sharing the knowledge used in this post.

have been making a splash with their range of spirits utilising the cracking flavours of native ingredients. Think cinnamon myrtle, rainbow lime, coastal saltbush. Their products are created in Bellambi, NSW which is on Dharawal Country.

Mitch, the founder, is a ball of energy when talking about it and we cannot help but get enthusiastic too. In his own words, ‘Our goal is to bring Indigenous culture and Australian Botanicals to the world, foraged on country by mob where possible, and purchased from other indigenous business as required. Each sip tells a story; a story of country and harmony.‘

have now branched out into longer drinks such as this strawberry gum spritz and an alcoholic ginger beer whereby traditional owners have helped them source native ginger (looks wild).

N E W A R T

We recently picked up this lovely piece by Aṉangu artist, Valerie Brumby, based out of Art , Anangu Country, near Uluṟu.

It caught our eye because it depicts a story of the Seven Sisters - a famous constellation which is significant not just across Aboriginal Dreaming but also in many, many cultures around the world. The Greeks called them the Pleiades; Celts associated them with mourning (spooky stuff). Wurundjeri Woiwurrung have their own story, which is not ours to tell, so get in touch to find out at www.wurundjeri.com.au

Yarra Falls was built as a venue that tells a story of the land we are on. Next time you come by, look up at the roof and you’ll see this constellation is laid out in the arrangement of the hanging pendant lamps above.
