Yarra Falls

Yarra Falls Evening spot in heart of the city, telling a story of local talent in food, refreshments, music and culture. Come for the snacks; stay for the good times.

We want to tell a story of people and land along the river known as the Yarra. Be that in the food on your plate, the wine in your glass or the music overheard, we're majority sourcing from as local as possible, and from the best from the world where we cannot. Where the river meets the sea, we'll change with the seasons of this part of the country. Our venue is on the land of the Wurundjeri Woiwu

rrung, of the Kulin Nation: it always was and always will be. We pay thanks and respect to their elders past, present and emerging.

‘BUSHMILLS X STORYTELLING’

We had a pretty special afternoon here yarrafalls couple of Sundays ago. In the spirit of the special month of August under the calendar do the Eastern Kulin Nation, we gathered to tell stories, eat, sup and connect.

Matt Castle mkcas_tle guided us through the premium range of Bushmills Whiskey Australia single malt Irish whiskey, including a surprise in the guise of Bushmills Causeway Collection Moscatel cask. Thanks Matt!

One of our owners, the Irish one, regaled guests with stories from the great Irish mythological cycles of the Fianna and the Red Branch. We learnt of the Salmon of Wisdom; how Cuchulainn got his name; and of course, how legendary giant, Fionn mac Cumhaill created the world famous Giant’s Causeway on the Antrim Coast.

Everyone tucked into snacks found in the stories themselves: smoked salmon, hazelnuts, boar, honey, fresh baked loaves.

Thanks as always for knowledge shared about this land here, that originated with consent from Kulin elders.

Yarra Falls ‘pays the rent’ by donating 1% of revenue (not profit) to the Koorie Heritage Trust.

Let’s do it again soon.

‘16/08 - An afternoon of whiskey + storytelling’

Our storyteller will weave together Irish legends + stories from the land along the river here. Nibbles are inspired by food from the stories : think smoked salmon w/roasted hazelnuts + whipped curd or kangaroo salami w/ damper.

Going for a strong finish!

MINI-TINI w/ Regans Orange bitters. The bitters really pop with the freshness of this Craft gin’s finger lime and macadamia.

Mitch works his Dharawal Country up around Wollongong, NSW. Recently, they released a strawberry gum spritz that slapped so hard we put it on our summer cocktail list. There is also an insane native ginger operation that you need to check out in their profile.
