Sometimes my day calls for a hot chocolate that gives a big chocolate hit and a florentine with a cherry on top

Melbourne and winter is done best in the snug laneways and arcade. Find some dumplings or a crusty Bahn Mi or a lemon tart at the Block Arcade. Heaven

Tour guides love a good story. Telling one about Melbourne and the wineries we visit and hearing them from our guests.

So pictured here Chandon Australia are Ryan, Katrina from Wisconsin (said to be the cheese capital of the world!) Dan and Des from Oxley on the border but as I heard have been everywhere including travel around Oz in a caravan

Katrina did a school teaching placement in Melbourne and lived with Dan and Des, Des being a school teacher herself . So from that meeting they have met each other in each others country for milestones and remained fond friends in between.

So in Melbourne, willing warm weather in shorts and going to the Carlton v Hawthorn game at the MCG today.

We shared a lovely day in the drinking wine and eating food and telling stories all the way. Lots of fun 🤞🍷😳

There’s a caption here, maybe wondering how to get a case of Chandon Sparkling wine home after visiting Chandon in the Yarra Valley or who will win the Super Netball game on Saturday at John Cain Arena - Melbourne Vixens or Adelaide Thunderbirds?

Or will Melbourne get any warmer today. Yes it’s a cold one so perfect for warming up with great food and wine 🍷

Half a Century of Cool climate magic

petalumawines turns 50 — and what a 50 years it’s been. Founded back in 1976 by the legendary Brian Croser, Petaluma helped put the Adelaide Hills on the map as serious cool-climate country, long before it was cool (pun very much intended 😏).

Their whole philosophy is “distinguished sites” — matching each variety to the patch of dirt it loves most. Riesling from Clare, Cabernet from Coonawarra, and of course that gorgeous Tiers Chardonnay from right here in the Piccadilly Valley. Home of Croser sparkling, 5 stars from James Halliday, and one of the best decks in the Hills to watch the afternoon sun.

And the best bit? They’re properly dog friendly 🐕our girl Josey making herself right at home with the wonderful Linda, who runs the cellar door and pours with the kind of warmth that makes you want to stay all day.

Petaluma was the very first Chardonnay that I fell in love with and sent me down a glorious path of wine discovery ❤️👏

Gasp. 😳An image not from the Yarra Valley or Mornington Peninsula!

We are on a road trip to Adelaide and now in the beautiful Adelaide Hills and visiting some amazing wineries and cellar doors and dropping off Wine Flight Cases

This view stopped me mid pitch as I looked back from the barrel room cellar door (special mention, open fire 🔥 🙏)

Perfectly framed through the French oak barrels is Bird in Hand restaurant - the new dining experience here
LVN, the initials of the name given to the winemakers prestigious pinnacle 2027 release Cuvée :

Lalla Victoria Nugent

There are special layers with Bird in Hand. There’s a lot going on here beneath the obvious.

Considered, creative and quietly confident
