Good Morning hope you all having a great week 3 more days to the weekend relax and enjoy

🐟🥚 Tin Fish or Mackerel Chutney with Boiled Eggs 🥚🐟

Another Durban favourite that brings back so many childhood memories! Growing up, tin fish chutney and boiled eggs were a staple in our home. We’d enjoy it in sandwiches for school lunches, for breakfast, or simply served on fresh bread or warm roti.

One of my fondest memories is packing tin fish sandwiches for a day at the beach. There was something special about enjoying these simple yet flavourful sandwiches while watching the waves i keep the same tradition here in Aussie visiting the beach or a road trip must have tin fish sandwiches 😋

A true Durban classic that’s simple, affordable, and packed with flavour! 😊

If you in Aussie you can get mackerel at woolies

Hope everyone enjoyed your weekend 😀

Today I decided to make a batch of the much-loved Luv Bites biscuits, and what a trip down memory lane it was! ❤️🍪

Growing up in Durban, Luv Bites were one of those special treats many of us enjoyed. With their buttery biscuit and delicious chocolate centre, they were a favourite in lunchboxes, tea trays, and family gatherings. Originally known as Riviera Chocolate Luv Bites, these biscuits became a household favourite for many South African families.

Making them today brought back so many wonderful childhood memories. It’s amazing how a simple biscuit can transport you back to a different time and place. The smell of them baking in the oven reminded me of home and the treats we grew up enjoying.

Food has a special way of keeping traditions alive, and recreating these classic biscuits felt like bringing a little piece of Durban into my kitchen here in Australia 🇦🇺🇿🇦☕❤️

Happy Monday everyone! 🌿✨

You all know how much I love my Veggie Monday—nothing beats a good spread of veggie curries to start the week right. But today I kept it simple with just one pot… a comforting mixed vegetable curry 🥕🥔🌶️

It’s been a while since I made this one, and wow… reminded me why I love it so much—full of flavour, hearty, and just feels like home ❤️

And you know me… if there are any leftovers (which I secretly hope there are 😄), I’ll be adding some dried fish tomorrow for a delicious Tuesday meal. That combo? Absolute winner!

What’s cooking in your kitchen today? 🍲

Happy Friday weekend is here 😀

Duck Curry

Tender duck pieces simmered in a fragrant curry, infused with garlic, ginger, and a beautiful blend of spices.

Serve it hot with rice or soft roti… and trust me, the aroma alone will have everyone gathering in the kitchen 😍

This is the kind of meal that brings back memories, fills your home with warmth, and keeps everyone coming back for seconds!

Growing up, sinqua a vegetable known as luffa/peechinga) in Durban there are many variations cooking this vegetable and it was one of those dishes my mum used to cook that I honestly never liked 🙈
Funny how tastes change with time…

After getting married, my mother-in-law started cooking this same vegetable curry simple, comforting, and full of flavour , and that’s when I truly fell in love with it ❤️
Since then, sinqua has become a favourite in my kitchen especially during fasting

It’s such a quick and easy meal and so versatile — you can keep it vegetarian or add:
• Prawns
• Dried fish
• Shrimps

Cooked with onions, tomatoes, curry leaves, and a good Durban style Kashmiri masala, it’s pure comfort food.

I’m also so grateful that we can now find this same vegetable here in Melbourne, bringing back all those Durban memories 🥘✨

Who else grew up eating this vegetable ? And did you love it straight away… or did it take time like me? 😊🌿
