The idea began in 2010, whilst traveling throughout the UK and Europe. Travel plans always focused on finding the best places to eat and discovering sweet delicacies to accompany that afternoon coffee. As the excitement for food grew, we thought why not broaden the horizons and share this much loved passion for sweet pastries, cakes and tarts? What started out as an endeavour to produce delicious
cupcakes for friends and family, has turned into an adventure in producing beautiful mini tarts, understated whoopie pies and of course, stylish macarons. And so, as the repertoire expands and the flavours multiply, so too does the passion to turn this small hobby into a successful business and career. So, why ‘Sweet Alchemy’? The idea of our business had emerged before the name, and whilst we were brainstorming names, nothing seemed to fit the bill. Admittedly, it wasn’t until a trip throughout Spain whilst reading the book “The Alchemist”, that I was convinced that this was the perfect name for our business. A “fable about following your dreams”, the universal point of this story is that everyone has a special destiny, and yet not everyone decides to achieve it because it takes hard work. Reaching that destiny often requires leaving behind familiar surroundings, and taking a risk that seems daunting and difficult. It also demands persistence, change, and the willingness to respond to omens that point the way – all of which we’re ready to take on! So, Alchemy with it’s philosophy of combining simple elements and turning them into gold, is exactly what we aim to do - use real, simple ingredients and produce delicate sweets that are not only delicious and beautiful, but also reach our destiny of providing sweets to feed the soul and enjoy with that cup of tea..
