Friends and fellow countrymen, we have a new menu! However, because you’re all absolute angels sent from above, we were a bit swamped and didn’t have a chance to take our usual photos. Next week we (ie ) will tell you about all the flavours in details. But head over this weekend to have a taste for yourself. Pumpkin pie! Battenberg! Rhubarb frangipane! Banoffee danish! And new savoury guys too like a slow cooked beef moment.

TLDR: Bring your gal pals and get a free coffee with any pastry or cake purchase on Thursdays and Fridays from 8.30-10.30am.

When my eldest dictator was tiny, I lived in the swamps of struggle for about 4 years. I felt judged for taking this Donnie Thornberry-adjacent creature anywhere, because he was hard work, despite any and all efforts.

I ended up staying at home far more than I should have because it was safer, there were no judgmental eyes and I didn’t have to apologise for yet another embarrassing thing that took place.

When I found myself child-free for a few hours, I would feel the need to push through and work through the never ending tasks.

One of the things I’ve been wanting to do for so long, but honestly couldn’t get to it due to the semi-constant fires that need to be put out, is to make sure that mums of young kids feel welcome here.

So if you need a little break, if drop off sent you into outer space yet again, if you had to deal with 87 night time wake ups; we’re here with a free coffee with any cake or pastry from 8.30-10.30 on Thursdays and Fridays.

There aren’t enough words for me to express how enormously grateful I felt this weekend. If I’m being honest, I’m still somewhat surprised with each customer that comes through the doors to purchase a treat from this colourful little space.

To each and every person that popped past this weekend, please know that I am so thankful and I hope you enjoyed your treats.

To our regulars- I genuinely feel such joy when you all come in for your treats and coffees. The fact that you keep coming back and supporting Beurre means so much to me, and I’m getting all blurry eyed while writing this, so it’s best I stop at this point before Claire Danes comes out to play.

Cookie class time is here again!

Details are:
Dates: Tuesday 7th and Tuesday 14th of April
Sessions: 9.30-10.30 or 12.30-1.30
Age: 4+
Cost: $55 per child (this includes a cookie, cookie dough to take home and a hot drink for the accompanying grown up.
Limited spots for each class!

We were hoping to have this all ready to go via a snazzy link on the website. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. So, just send us an email at [email protected] with

🍪Your 1st and 2nd preference for dates and times
🍪Kiddo’s name and age
🍪Name of the accompanying adult for the session

Just like last time, we need a minimum of 4 angel-demons to proceed with a class, so the best way to guarantee us going ahead with a session is to gather a gang of up to 6 tiny dictator friends and book together.

TLDR: limited easter hours, school holiday cookie classes, and delaying the April menu.
 
It’s our first Easter weekend on this street AND school holidays are upon us this week (yay! So much yay! All the yay!)  So with all that in mind, I have no idea what to expect on the street, and I have landed on remaining open, but with limited hours.
 
So, all of this, coupled with the fact that I’ve been having really vivid dreams about not replying to custom cake enquiries, we have  decided to push out the new menu to next weekend. There’s no point in Loz and I putting in so much work for a new menu, only for not many people to be around to enjoy it (and to shower us with accolades, so many accolades). So, that Japanese focaccia (along with new cake and tart friends) that we all want to inhale will be ready for you from Thursday the 9th of April.
 
Last thing- we are going to release school holiday cookie class dates tomorrow, so keep your cutie pie eyeballs open for that.

Introducing the Eat Your Feelings Cake Box

These joyous gals are made up of cake offcuts that didn’t make the cut to feature in the gleaming FOH display, but will absolutely make their way to your bellies. Why? because we a) don’t like waste and b) therapy is expensive. Cake, however, is not.

The fillings and flavours will likely rotate, depending on all the bits and bobs that are salvaged from various cakes we make during the week.

Anyway, the main take away here is less waste, excellent cake, eat the feelings.
