After returning from my working holiday in Kyoto, Japan, I couldn’t stop thinking about the quality and care behind Japanese tea culture — and the memory of what truly delicious matcha tasted like.
I had an idea for a Japanese teahouse… but I wasn’t quite ready, and I definitely didn’t have the hospitality experience 😅
So a few years later, while preparing for maternity leave, I decided to test another idea instead.
A small crowdfunding campaign that would change everything 🍵
The rest, as they say, is history.
Matcha Yu Tea launched in March 2018, and we haven’t looked back.
It’s definitely been hard and tests resilience, but at the end of the day, sharing my passion for Japan and Matcha with you all is what keeps me going every day 💚
How long have you been part of the Matcha Yu Tea journey? I’d love to know 👇
