What we took away from Parliament House was that together, the islands of the Pacifik are stronger when we unite behind a common goal:
our collective progress through One Moana 🌊.

It was a night of celebrating the significance of Victoria welcoming its first Pacifika woman into Parliament. It was also a reminder of the power women bring to the table — the voices we carry, the communities we represent, the spaces we create and the change we can spark when we step forward.

For us, it was a night that represented the values we stand for here at Jungli Chilli:
Culture, Courage, Community and Creativity.

Culture — honouring where we come from, the stories and traditions that shape us.

Courage — finding our voice, taking up space and having the confidence to bring our culture into spaces is not normally common.

Community — recognising that we are stronger when we create space for one another, celebrate our differences and come together with a shared purpose.

Creativity — seeing the community come together and bring their own unique art, stories, colours and expressions into this blessed space. A beautiful reminder that our culture is not something to simply preserve; it is something to embrace, express and bring to life in all its vibrant and powerful forms.

Witnessing the blessing of the first Pacifika woman as an MP for Victoria Anasina Gray-Barberio MP at Parliament House, was more than an experience for us — it was a reminder of why we started and where we're headed.
A sincere Vinaka to the people behind Village Response Collective (VRC) for allowing us to be part of history!
