The key word is consistently. Taking vitamin C on a daily basis is what actually helps. If you already feel a cold coming on, a higher dose for a short period can still help reduce the severity and length of it. One of the biggest misconceptions though is that more is always better. Vitamin C is water soluble, so there's only so much your body can use before the rest is simply flushed out.

Someone came in last week absolutely certain they had something serious. Two hours on Google. It was hayfever. Google isn't wrong exactly, but it has no idea who you are, your history, your medications, or that you just moved somewhere with a lot of grass. It gives you every possibility and the scary ones always stick. We ask the questions Google never asks. We look at the full picture. Come see us first. You'll leave with a real answer, not a spiral.

The maximum safe daily amount for a healthy adult is 4 grams, which is eight standard 500mg tablets in 24 hours. Go past that and your liver hits a breaking point where it simply can't process it fast enough, and damage happens faster than most people realise. If you drink alcohol regularly, that safe threshold is even lower. Check the ingredients across everything you're taking. A lot of cold and flu combos already contain paracetamol, so it's easy to double the dose without realising.

"Is this covered by PBS?" General patients pay up to $25 per script. Concession cardholders pay $7.70. And there's something called the Safety Net that most people have never heard of. Once you've spent enough on prescriptions across the calendar year, your medications become free or heavily discounted for the rest of that year. If you're on multiple regular medications and you're not registered, you're probably paying more than you need to. Come in and we'll sort it out.

Garlic in your nose is not a sinus treatment.

It is irritation, not relief.

If your sinuses are blocked, there are safer options that actually work.

Before the doors open, there's a checklist most people never think about. Fridge temperatures logged for anything cold-dependent, insulin, vaccines, eye drops. A second set of eyes on everything prepared the day before. Controlled drug registers counted, reconciled and balanced. A lot happens back here before a single customer walks in, and most people have no idea.

CeraVe and trending skincare are not in the same category.

CeraVe focuses on barrier repair with simple, proven ingredients. Many viral products prioritise hype over long term skin health.

La Roche Posay is clinically tested, especially for sensitive skin and SPF. QV and

Dermeze are built for dryness and eczema.

Trendy does not mean effective. Proven works.

Magnesium glycinate, not oxide. It's chelated to an amino acid, so it absorbs properly and won't wreck your gut. Cheap magnesium is usually oxide, and that only has about 4% absorption, so it's way less effective. Vitamin D3, not D2, converts to the active form your body actually uses. 1,000 to 2,000 IU daily, with a meal. These aren't the most expensive things on this shelf. They're just the ones that actually do something. Come see us at DCO if you've got a question.
