We are sad. The loss of life at Bondi is tragic and the government is compounding the loss by targeting lawful firearm owners by rushing to amend the current laws.
✳️ Is it the gun or the person who chose to take life? Our Hero Bystander took a gun from an offender and chose not to use the gun. He is no different to the over 200,000 firearm owners in NSW.
✳️ The perpetrators used 2 guns in the attack. It was reported one of the perpetrators had 6 fi****ms, so now one of the amendments calls for a cap of 4 fi****ms per owner. How will this stop future attacks where only 1 gun is needed to take a life?
✳️ The government also wants to make it mandatory for every firearm owner be a member of a club, whether you require it for your licensing or not. One of the perpetrators was a member of a sporting shooting club. How will making every firearm owner a member of a club stop a future potential loss of life.
✳️ Most concerning is the removal of natural justice and procedural fairness in allowing no right of appeal to NCAT for NSW Police & Firearm Registry decisions. There should be a fair and impartial court/tribunal to review decisions to protect us from potential abuse of police powers.
✳️ We, as citizens and residents of Australia enjoy our right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. This right is being stripped by the proposed firearm legislation amendments as the government has decided ALL firearm owners are offenders.
Brittany dogs are hunting dogs. We utilise their skills here on the farm and it is no secret we are firearm owners. Our puppies have gone to both pet homes and hunting homes. No matter your position on guns themselves, I urge everyone to sign the e-petition currently circulating to make the government understand we refuse to have our rights eroded by the acts of 2 people who have no regard or desire to live in harmony with the rest of us - no matter who we are, where we are from, our religion or our values.
