The 2024 vintages of Farrside and Sangreal Pinot Noir have not landed quietly. Farrside is masculine, self-possessed and effortlessly cool. Sangreal is highly perfumed, berrylicious and spicy. They’re quite the pair. Split them up or take them both - it’s your party.

Michael Dhillon’s affinity for Pinot Noir is undeniable - or is it obsession? We aren’t fussed either way, as long as he keeps making magic in the Macedon Ranges.

When you’ve had a bottle of Bindi, especially the Darshan, you’ll be changed as a Pinot drinker. There is an intangible quality that’s impossible to explain.

As custodian for the Bindi site he was born and raised on, Michael’s knowledge of his vineyards is intimate. A sweep of Euro vintages and countless Burgundy site visits served to enhance his effectiveness as a vigneron, and solidify his understanding of a very special variety.

The 2024s are, as always, highly collectible, age-worthy wines, with roughly 150-200 dozen Block 5 the standard for any given vintage.

We’re thrilled to have an allocation of the Block 5, Block 8, and Darshan instore now at SOMM. If you can’t get in, give us a call.

Send off the end of winter this week in style with two cult Burgundy producers that don’t miss a beat in the production of exceptional white and red Burgundy alike.

Domaine Prieure Roch prides itself on exceptional site selection as the basis for their silky, stylish wines, holding some of the most revered sites in Burgundy, from Clos Monopole x3 to Chevrey Chambertin.

Domaine Ghislaine produce from the Côtes de Nuits. Led by Ghislaine Barthod and son, Clément. Ghislaine prides herself on maintaining the same winemaking practices year in, year out, so that the variation of each vintage may shine.

The 2023s (and a 2024 Blanc) are currently drinking beautifully, with plenty of mileage given careful cellaring.

The much anticipated (for our team at least) Piedmont arrivals from G.D. Vajra have landed at SOMM.

Some of you were lucky enough to meet winemaker Eugene Qiao on her recent visit instore, taking our customers through the breadth of intriguing stylistic difference witin the range; from the ethereal beauty of Coste di Rose, to the undeniable puritan calibre of Bricco Delle Viole. The Langhe Nebbiolo and Rosso are also rather spectacular value for money, and drinking so well. Just about every customer had a different standout.

Nebbiolo always benefits from a decant. These are worth a special trip. Pick up a couple for your spring table and a few more for the cellar.

Head into the weekend with something new and exciting from the southern Rhone.

Domaine Gramenon is a biodynamic name to watch. Tucked into pretty rolling hills in a town named Montbrison Sur-Lez, these unfined, unfiltered wines are just one part of the organic ecosystem of the Gramenon property, where food, farm animals and vines work in unity.

The 2024 releases certainly feel united. Try out the Rhone Rouge, unfiltered Grenache and lush puritan’s Syrah next time you stop into SOMM.

Nothing says winter like a rustic Tuscan bottle of Sangiovese.

We have three beauties from the world-class Chianti and Montalcino DOCGs gracing our shelves. From San Polo, the Brunello Di Montalcino 2018 sees tart red fruit balanced by savoury.
The San Giorgio Ciampoleto Rosso is a darker fruit iteration with a hint of orange amaro, while the Chianti Classico by Fattoria Rodano packs a punch in the intersection of red fruit, orange rind and cigar box.
